Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition launched on February 13th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC, Ubisoft announced. The release commemorates three decades of the iconic platforming series.
The edition includes five versions of the original 1995 game: MS-DOS, PlayStation, Atari Jaguar, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance. It also features a previously unplayable Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) prototype, over 120 additional levels from bonus packs, and a reimagined soundtrack composed by Christophe Héral.
Although, the new soundtrack has drawn criticism from some fans who feel it deviates too significantly from the original compositions. Ubisoft acknowledged the feedback on its official Discord server, stating that the development team is evaluating the possibility of adding an option to switch to the classic soundtrack. The potential for licensing issues, particularly following the death of original composer Rémi Gazel in 2019, may be a factor in the current situation.
The digital release is available via the Ubisoft Store, Steam, and Ubisoft+ subscription service. A physical release is planned for June. The PlayStation version of the game is priced at $19.99, according to the PlayStation Store.
The launch of the anniversary edition follows reports of multiple Rayman projects in development and an expansion of the development team working on a new, large-scale Rayman game. Ubisoft opened a dedicated 30th-anniversary account, sharing additional details about the franchise’s history.
