Comments from head coach Atsushi Ohno

Q: I think the game would have turned out differently if the team had a good transition offense and could have used the defense after that, but what do you think about that?
A: I got into that situation when the offense ended poorly.
If everyone could take shots with a common understanding of the rules for offensive rebounds, I think we would have been able to set up our defense in transition.
In the second quarter, we were only pursuing speed, and we made poor judgment in the second quarter when we could develop our offense at a fast pace and when we needed to stop the ball well and pass the ball patiently.
However, thanks to the fact that we strictly followed the rules we have always been working on regarding rebounding, I think we were able to get more offensive rebounds and had more second-chance points. Masu.
I think they clearly understood that they had to do standard things and then have a game plan that made adjustments to the opponent.

Q: What did you focus on during the bye week in preparation for the second half and CS?
A: I noticed that he seemed to be a little more relaxed, so I was conscious of returning to the starting point.
It was the same in yesterday’s match, but I felt that there was a kind of complacency that prevailed, thinking that the current results were good and that they would be able to make some adjustments without doing the standard things, so I decided to reconsider my base. However, I don’t think the players noticed that it didn’t lead to results.
This season has been a painful losing streak, but I hope it will be a losing streak that will make the players feel that way.

Q: When we were trying to catch up in the 3rd quarter, the boosters were cheering us on, and I think that really gave us strength.
I think there will be home court advantage in CS as well, what do you think?
A: I think the cheering is the amount of expectations we have for ourselves.
Naturally, the less expectations are placed on the team, the less voice the customers have to say, and I think the loudness of their voices reflects what is expected of them.
When you see a strong team, you want them to do even better, so I’m happy to be in a position where they want me to be, and I want to play even better and receive even louder support than the one I’m currently receiving. I think we have to become a group that is desired.

#24 Comment from Takanari Sasaki

I think we played more physically than yesterday’s game.
With Mayten absent, we were unable to control the opponent’s two stable center players, but everyone was able to play with a high awareness of offensive and defensive rebounds.
Although we lost, I think it was a match that will lead us to the next match, so we will do our best as a team in the next match.

Q: I think that advancing to CS and winning the regional championship, which everyone around you is looking forward to, will be a huge experience for you, but what are your thoughts on that?
A: We haven’t decided whether we will participate in the CS yet, and I think this is a period of preparation where we think about what we need to do as individuals and as a team to achieve our goal of winning the championship.
I would like to work towards my goal while keeping the vector towards myself.

Q: Is there anything you learned or absorbed from playing against A-Tokyo in the previous match and Ryukyu in this match, teams who are regular CS players?
A: Ryukyu was last season’s champion, and the whole team was physically active in both games this season, and we need to learn from them. I learned that if you don’t do that, you can’t win.

#8 Comment from Atsuya Ota

Unlike yesterday’s game, the entire team talked about remembering their commitments and basics and carrying out them well before competing, so I think we were able to compete even though some members were in poor condition, and we were able to keep up with the basics. I think it was a great accomplishment to be able to go back and play.
However, if we were satisfied with this, I don’t think we’d be able to hold back or hope for our own growth, so I hope we can step up through team practice and individual workouts to further develop our base.
We lost two games in a row to Ryukyu, so we want to prepare well so that we can repay our debt in our next CS match.

Q: Since the last round, you have continued to play against teams that are regular CS players, but what do you feel are your future challenges?
A: We are a team that lacks experience as we have hardly ever participated in CS, but both A Tokyo and Ryukyu have participated in CS many times and have won championships, so we have plenty of experience. I do not think.
We tried to do our best during the bye week to make up for that, but I think we lacked awareness and our lack of awareness showed in yesterday’s game.
We thought we had improved our quality by repeating countermeasures, but it still wasn’t enough.
However, I am glad that I was able to experience it first-hand at this stage, and I hope that in the future we will be able to practice high quality one by one.
We lost when there was an accident with a foreign player, but in CS, you have to win, so it won’t change even if I participate. In fact, I have to raise my level to a higher level so that I can give myself some rest. I don’t think so.
My current status is not enough, and as long as I’m on the court, age doesn’t matter, so I want to work hard and aim high.

Q: I think the cheering from the boosters gave us strength during today’s difficult moments. A message for all the boosters.
A: The voices of all the boosters will be a tailwind and will make us want to go one step further and do our best, so I would be happy if we could hear more voices.
When the team is in a difficult situation, I hope that if you can give them an encouraging voice, the players will realize that even if it’s just a little chance, it will give them strength.
I would like to create a team called “Phoenix” not only by ourselves but also with all the boosters.

Q. Review of today
I think it was a really big win for us. It was a game that made us realize once again how difficult it is to win away. At the end, our opponent had a chance to tie the score, and it might have gone into overtime, but I’m glad we were able to come through with the win. I want to be well prepared for tomorrow.

[#5 Stacey Davis player comment]
Q. Review of today
I thought it would be a tough game without Kyle, but I’m glad we were able to win. It was my comeback from injury, but I told myself, “Let’s play hard,” and played. We learned a lot as a team, so we will make adjustments for tomorrow and return to Nagaoka with two consecutive wins.

[#13 Takeo Nagano player comment]
Q. Review of today
At the beginning of the match, our opponent played aggressively, but we recovered from that and were able to finish the first half with a narrow margin. I think we were able to progress at our own pace in the second half. However, I think the entire team needs to be conscious once again about how the last game ended.

[Comment from head coach Kota Mizuno]

“First of all, I am very happy that we were able to become the club’s first B1 team to win six consecutive games.
With 9 wins and 1 loss in the last 10 games, we are starting to win as a team, and I feel like we are gradually gaining confidence. I think we are growing as a team, being able to play well in close games and being patient.
However, I feel that we still have a lot of room to improve, including in the closing moments of today’s game, whether we can maintain the lead after taking the lead or how we can grasp the flow of the game before it becomes a close game.

(About the club’s record number of visitors)
I think it was a wonderful and encouraging sight to see so many fans gathered at this venue and wearing yellow uniforms. I believe that we were able to win these six consecutive wins together because of everyone’s support, so I believe that this victory was not just for us, but together with the fans.

(What is the impact of Bentil joining this season?)
We reinforced Bentil because he is a player who can play both inside and outside and has experience. He has won many championships with his teams and knows what it takes to win.
I thought he could be a big weapon for the team, especially on the outside. He has had a huge influence, and although he was unable to play due to injury at the beginning of the season, I originally thought he could do this much, so I am glad that he has gradually started to show his true potential since his injury. I think that’s a good thing. ”
[Comment from Ko Flippin]

“Today was a very good match.
We are a team with a lot of talent, so I think I have to find various roles and do what I can, so I think it’s good in the sense that no matter how I am appointed, it will lead to a win. I think so.
As a point guard, I try to encourage everyone to move in the right places so that if they are a shooter, they can score, or if they are a defender, they can defend well.
My goal is still to compete in the championship and become the champion, so I’m going to take it one step at a time. ”

[Comment from Ben Bentil]

“I think it was great that we were able to finish with two consecutive wins before the bye week.
Yesterday I was sent off midway through the match, but today I was really focused on doing what I could to help each player and the team as a whole. I went into the game hoping to do what I couldn’t do yesterday, so I’m glad I was able to help the team.
The championship is our goal, and I think I can tell everyone from my experience that it’s about instilling confidence in everyone on the team and leading the team toward that goal. So I would like to help the team in that aspect as well. ”

Q. Review of today
I am proud that we fought against a strong opponent even though we were tired. We didn’t score inside goals due to our lack of size, but the players who hadn’t played in the first half of the season played an active role and executed according to our game plan. Although the situation continues to be difficult, I would like to thank all the players for not giving up and working hard even though they were losing.

[#24 Seiya Tanaka player comment]
Q. Review of today
I challenged myself to do my best as a professional player in a difficult situation. I think it was a great thing for the team that the members who had not been able to play in games until now were able to communicate and express themselves with confidence in the games. Everyone on the team did their best under these difficult circumstances, so I think this will lead to growth for this team regardless of whether we win or lose.

[#33 Kanta Sasai player comment]
Q. Review of today
All the players did their best to do what they could for the boosters who came from Niigata. The coach told them what to do before the match, so all eight players were able to carry out the coach’s instructions. I hit a lot of 3-point shots today, but I couldn’t make them, so I want to make adjustments so I can make them.

Comment from head coach Atsushi Ohno

Q: I thought today was a match that showed a lot of good things about Sanen Neo Phoenix, but what do you think when you look back on it?
A: On the defensive side, I think it was a game where we showed not only our toughness but also our mental toughness.
Thanks to them playing tough and following their own defensive system, we were able to play good defense, and I think it was a good game as we stuck to our own style on offense for the entire 40 minutes.

Q: What words did you say to the players from the previous match to this match?
A: We have different players who know their basketball, players who understand it, and players who are able to do it, and I told them that we need to improve on that phase.
Some players are satisfied with what they understand, so everyone has to go as far as DO (do it).
To that end, we must continue to work hard and continue to look for things that will make us better, and I think the most important thing for us to do is to open our mouths to each other in order to get better.
We can’t go where we want to go if things continue as they are now, so I told them that we should all take better care of Relentless.

#0 Thirdy Ravena player comment

I think we had a tough start and it was a good match.
We knew that our toughness was the key to winning, so I’m glad we were able to execute on that.
I think it was really good that we were able to maintain our mental state and control the match against A-Tokyo, who conceded few goals.

Q: A: Tokyo has a strong impression of being on the inside, and I thought you were doing well in that area as well. What do you think?
A: It was a very tough game, but we were able to take shots from outside no matter which player played, so I think we were able to capture the match by creating space and taking advantage of it.

#5 Comment from Sota Oura

A: Tokyo is a team that is very tough and plays in a physical style, but we had a bad game in the previous game, and as we reflected on that, we tried to play our own basketball again, and for 40 minutes I had to play my own game. I think we have created a unique basket.
There were times when we let down our guard, but the fact that we were able to come together as a team and fight until the end is proof that we are growing step by step.

Q: What are your enthusiasm for tomorrow’s Game 2?
A: Even though the measures have been taken in previous games, the entire team continues to say that we must continue to play our own style of basketball. I think I have no choice but to continue for 40 minutes.
I think the results will only come from that, so first of all, we want to play basketball in our own way, just like we did in today’s game.

Q: Congratulations on achieving 500 assists in B1. How about looking back on it yourself?
A: It’s a record that I couldn’t have achieved on my own, and I only get assists when my former teammates from Akita and Sanen make shots, so I’m grateful to my teammates.
I’m really happy that I was able to accomplish this.
I’m happy when my teammates score as if it were me, and most of all I’m happy when my assists lead the team to victory.

Comments from head coach Atsushi Ohno

We were run by our opponent, we grabbed a lot of rebounds, and we couldn’t fully develop our base.
I think the only good thing was that we won.

Q: Although you were able to extend your winning streak, I don’t think it was very good, but looking back, how do you feel?
A: Well, like I said last time, I think I’m relaxed.
I think it has become obvious that the mindset and preparation required for entering the court and playing the game are becoming less important.
We have to understand that we have been able to do our best and have won so far.
Our goal is not to extend our winning streak; we are still growing throughout the season in order to get to where we want to go.
There is nothing wrong with doing what we need to do and ending up in a cross-game or losing the game, but I think we have to reflect on the fact that we didn’t do what we were supposed to do and ended up with a cross-game. .

#1 Comment from Jante Mayten

I feel like we could have played better, as we made a lot of defensive mistakes and lacked concentration, but we were able to come together as a team and bounce back to win the match.
We will continue to do our best in each match to extend our winning streak, so we appreciate the continued support of all our boosters.

#5 Comment from Sota Oura

I think it will be difficult for us to continue winning unless we control our emotions from the start of the match.
While aiming for a championship, I think if we lack that aspect we will not be able to win, so it was a good experience to be able to reflect on these points after winning, so I will utilize them in the next round. I would like.

Q: What are your enthusiasm for the next home game against A Tokyo?
A: It’s not an easy opponent to beat, and I think they have a lot of strong points as they are in first place in the East Division, so we will put our heart into it from the start and make our own way. I want to do it for 40 minutes.
