Google Launches Pixel 10 Teaser, Directly Criticizes Apple‘s Siri AI Delay
Google has released a 30-second promotional video for its forthcoming Pixel 10 smartphone, showcasing its new “Moonstone” color option. The video includes a voice-over pointedly targeting Apple’s protracted rollout of its promised Siri AI upgrade, initially unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2023 at the Steve Jobs theater in Cupertino,California.
The Google ad states, “If you buy a new phone as of a feature that’s coming soon, but it’s been coming soon for a full year. You could change your definition of soon.Or you could just change your phone.” Apple originally intended to deliver the Siri AI enhancements – encompassing features like contextual awareness, on-screen understanding, and cross-request functionality – with the release of iOS 18.4 alongside the iPhone 16 series.
However, just prior to the expected launch, Apple announced the features were not yet ready, offering only a non-specific future commitment. The company subsequently previewed iOS 18.5, released in May 2024, and now anticipates the Siri AI features will arrive with iOS 26, slated for release in September 2026 – a three-year delay from the initial WWDC announcement. Apple CEO Tim Cook did not address the delay directly during the company’s Q2 2024 earnings call on May 2nd. Google’s marketing campaign concludes with the tagline “Ask more of your phone,” positioning the Pixel 10 as a readily available choice. The Pixel 10 is expected to be powered by the Google Tensor G4 chip, manufactured by Samsung in Taylor, Texas.
