Prague – Josefโ ฤapek’s painting Bride sold for a record 30.6 million Czech crowns, including the auction surcharge, at a recent auction, equaling โขthe artist’s previous record set in 2022.โข simultaneously,โข a work by Emila Filla achieved the same price, marking a shared high forโค both artists.
The surge in prices for ฤapek and Filla reflects their growing popularity among collectorsโฃ and investors, with values steadily โคincreasing.โฃ Five ฤapek works โคwere featured in theโ auction, including Daisies in โaโ Vase, which sold for 3.12 million crowns. This sale positions bride as a critically importent โคpiece within ฤapek’s oeuvre, notable for being โa โคdouble-sided painting with aโฃ Cubist work, Two Children, on its reverse.
This year’s most expensive work sold at a domestic auction remains Bohumil Kubiลกta‘sโ Still Life, which fetchedโข 44.2 million crowns in Prague โinโค November. The overall record for a paintingโ sold in โขthe Czech Republic is still โheld by Frantiลกek Kupka’s Conception/Danae, whichโค sold for 126.5 millionโ crowns lastโ April.
