Fever Guard Sophie Cunningham Donates GoFundMe proceeds to Ronald McDonald House Charities
INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham has donated teh funds raised through a recent GoFundMe campaign to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Indiana, the team announced Thursday. Cunningham initially launched the GoFundMe to help cover medical expenses for a family friend’s child battling a rare form of cancer, ultimately raising over $12,000. Rather of directly applying the funds to the initial case, Cunningham chose to broaden the impact by donating the total amount to the charity, which provides support and resources to families with children receiving medical treatment.
The donation reflects Cunningham’s commitment to giving back to the community and supporting families facing difficult circumstances. While currently recovering from a torn MCL, Cunningham has remained actively engaged with fans and teammates, embracing her role with “The bench Mob” alongside fellow injured players Caitlin Clark (groin), Aari McDonald (foot), Sydney Colson (ACL), Chloe Bibby (knee), and occasionally Damiris Dantas (concussion). Cunningham described being sidelined as “exhausting,” but expressed gratitude for the support of her teammates.
“it felt good to be able to take something that started as helping one family and turn it into something that could help so many more,” Cunningham said in a statement released by the Fever. “Ronald McDonald house Charities does remarkable work, and I’m honored to be able to support their mission.”
ronald McDonald House Charities of Indiana provides a “home away from home” for families with children undergoing treatment at Indiana hospitals, offering lodging, meals, and other essential services. The organization serves families from across indiana and the United States.
Cunningham is mostly following doctors’ orders in her recovery but admitted that she is a little impatient. During Fever exit interviews, she affirmed her readiness for the 2026 season, stating enthusiastically,”Hell yeah, man,” and hoping to ramp up basketball activities in January.
