BoerBurgerBeweging’s Prime Ministerial Candidate for Upcoming Elections: Mona Keijzer or Aalt Dijkhuizen?

The BoerBurgerBeweging will present the prime ministerial candidate for the upcoming parliamentary elections in Deventer on Friday. Party leader Caroline van der Plas had previously indicated that she does not see herself as a potential Prime Minister, because she does not see herself operating on the international stage.

She wants to put forward someone who has at least “international experience”, she told De Telegraaf earlier. The candidate will also be second on the list of candidates, and will therefore become a Member of Parliament if the premiership passes the BBB.

A name that is circulating in the corridors is Mona Keijzer, former party prominent of the CDA. Keijzer broke with her party a few weeks ago, reportedly because she disagreed with a possible nomination of Hubert Bruls as party leader. But that turned out not to be the case, and sources therefore doubt Keijzer’s reason for leaving.

Another name mentioned is Aalt Dijkhuizen, former chairman of the board of Wageningen University. In 2021, Van der Plas suggested that Dijkhuizen should become Minister of Agriculture.

BBB would now not have to deliver a prime minister in polls

At the moment it does not look as if the BBB will actually be able to deliver a prime minister. In a poll by I&O Research, Van der Plas’ party gets 13 seats. The poll is led by Pieter Omtzigt’s new party (31 seats) and the PvdA-GroenLinks combination (28 seats). This is followed by the VVD with 22 virtual seats.

The BBB was the big winner in the recent Provincial Council elections. Then the party suddenly became the largest in all provinces.

Former Volt Member of Parliament Nilüfer Gündogan Not Available for Upcoming Elections: Exploring Other Political Engagement Options

Nilüfer Gündogan, former member of Volt and now an independent Member of Parliament, is not available for the upcoming elections. She does not think it is realistic to set up a new party in such a short time.

“With the fall of the cabinet, I knew that new elections would mean the end of my parliamentary membership,” Gundogan said in a statement on X, formerly Twitter. She calls it “simply impossible” to set up a new party in a few months. “This made the choice for me.”

The politician says she is looking for other ways to engage in the social and public debate. The conversations are ongoing, but she can’t share about her plans yet.

Gündogan started as a Member of Parliament for Volt, but was expelled from the group last year. The party did so because of reports of transgressive behaviour. The court ruled that this was unjustified, because action should have been taken first after the report was made. “A suspension without a proper explanation of why and without an explanation of the complaints is not acceptable,” the judge said at the time.

The judge allowed the Member of Parliament to return to Volt’s group, but did not. Therefore, the Court of Appeal overruled the trial court’s decision.

Gundogan claims to provide evidence of libel and slander

But that is not the end of the matter. “The constitutional judgment of the court this year does not detract from the libel and slander that have been used to induce me to give up my parliamentary seat,” Gündogan now writes.

The MP had already filed a report of defamation and slander, but the Public Prosecution Service (OM) did not open an investigation due to a lack of capacity.

“I will provide the legal evidence for this and continue to do so until my name is cleared,” the politician emphasizes. “I’m doing that for myself and also for anyone this could happen to and who might have less strength to fight.”

Attje Kuiken, PvdA Party Leader, Steps Down from Joint Electoral List

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com August 18, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

PvdA party leader Attje Kuiken is not running for a place on the joint electoral list of PvdA and GroenLinks during the parliamentary elections in November. Report that AD in RTL News Friday. With this, Kuik leaves the House of Representatives after sixteen years.

Kuiken had been in the House of Representatives since 2006, for 5,994 days to be exact. Since 2022 she has been party leader of the Labor Party.

“I’ll leave it at that and pass it on to the next generation,” she tells it AD. She says she has considered her choice carefully. “I am now 45, in the prime of my life, halfway through, and I can say: I had a blast.”

The politician tells the newspaper that she would like to consider possibly holding a ministerial post in a cabinet according to her. But she does not want to speculate further on that.

“To be clear: that is not my mindset right now. It does not feel like goodbye yet. We are at the start of hopefully a very special election battle and a campaign. It would be a bit ridiculous. You should not dream about what the campaigns there after that,” says Kuiken.

“But yes, if you are asked, it would be a huge honor and you say yes. I always want to take responsibility, but I can very well imagine that there is a place for me elsewhere. I also think the police or youth services fantastic.”

The PvdA and GroenLinks will enter the elections in November. The leader of the combination will be European Commissioner Frans Timmermans.

GroenLinks Leader Jesse Klaver Steps Aside for New Face in Joint List for Parliamentary Elections

GroenLinks leader Klaver will not be the new leader of the joint list of GroenLinks and the PvdA in the upcoming parliamentary elections. In a interview with AD he says he wants to make way for a new face.

Although he did aspire to it, he now says he knew for “some time” that it wouldn’t be wise for me to do that. In his own words, the choice had been on his mind for some time.

He believes that a new combination should be led by someone new. But he only made the final decision last week. He still had doubts, “but when the cabinet fell, the moment came to make a final choice”.

“We are really starting something new, where the party leader is of less importance. We want to show that parties are stepping over their own shadow.”

‘Not wise’

He says he is now available to make the cooperation between the two parties a success, “but not as a party leader”.

According to the politician, “holding on to your party political interests has long held back progress. I hope my step will give voters confidence that we are really willing to put aside our personal ambitions for something greater.”

It is not known who will be the leader. Klaver says he supports that person and hopes that all members of both parties will do so.

GroenLinks and the PvdA want to form a left-wing bloc for the parliamentary elections in November with a joint list, one election program and a party leader. To reinforce this far-reaching cooperation, Klaver became a member of the PvdA last week.

Jesse Klaver Steps Down as Joint Leader of GroenLinks and PvdA: New Leader Yet to be Determined

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com July 19, 2023

Jul 19, 2023 at 04:37 Update: an hour ago

Jesse Klaver will not be the leader of the joint list of GroenLinks and PvdA in the coming elections. “If you start a new combination, it must also be led by someone new,” he says in the Wednesday AD. It is not yet clear who that will be.

“To be honest, I would very much like to become party leader. But I’ve known for a while that it wasn’t wise if I did that,” he continues.

“For me, the cooperation between GroenLinks and PvdA symbolizes that politicians can finally step over their own interests for once. Sticking to your party political interests has long held back progress. I hope that my step will give voters confidence that we are really willing to fulfill our personal ambitions set aside for something greater.”

The big question remains who will be the face of the joint group. The names of PvdA prominent Frans Timmermans and Amsterdam alderman Marjolein Moorman, among others, often come up. “Whoever it will be, I will support him or her.”

Klaver will remain in politics

Klaver will remain available for another place on the electoral list, he emphasizes. On Tuesday, Corinne Ellemeet announced that she does not. She was number two on the GroenLinks list in the previous elections. Ellemeet is becoming more and more to assure about the “cold climate” in which politicians have to do their job and does not want to enter the House of Representatives again.

There is not yet an official name for the joint group. “I always talk about the United Links. I don’t know whether the designation will be on the electoral list. I also think GroenLinks-PvdA is a great name.”

Members of both parties voted massively last week to the plan for a joint list and one program for the parliamentary elections next November. At GroenLinks, 91.8 percent supported the plan. This was 87.9 percent for the PvdA.
