‘Home Improvement‘ Star Zachery Ty Bryanโ Arrested After Fiancรฉeโข Allegedly Attempts to Run Himโข Over
EUGENE, Ore. – โคZachery Ty Bryan, best โฃknown forโฃ his role as Brad Taylor on the 1990s sitcom “Home Improvement,” was arrested over the weekend following an incident in which his fiancรฉe, Johnnie Faye Cartwright, allegedlyโค attempted to run him over with a vehicle. No one โคwas injured in โคthe โincident, according to theโ Lane County Sheriff’s office.
Bryan, 32, andโ Cartwright, 31, wereโฃ questioned by deputies who โ”observedโค signs” that both were “impaired.” Cartwright was initially arrested for reckless โdriving, three counts of reckless endangerment, and driving under the influence (DUI). Twoโ of the reckless endangerment charges were subsequently cleared, according to Lane โขCounty โJail records.Bryanโข was later arrested for violating a court order stemming fromโข a prior domestic violence case.
The arrest marks โคthe latestโค in a series โof legal troubles for Bryan, who has been arrested six times in the last five years. In 2021, he pleaded guilty to attempting to strangle Cartwright, later downplaying the incident as “blown โฃout of proportion.” As part of the โplea agreement, he was ordered not to contactโข her, despite the couple having three children together.
Authorities statedโ the couple’s children are currently inโ the care of a โfamily member.
Bryan also pleaded guilty to a felony assaultโ against an unnamed woman in October โค2023. He was arrested twice for DUI in 2024, and again โin early 2025 duringโ a โฃdomestic dispute in South Carolina where he allegedly โฃchoked and punched a woman with whom he shares children.
Bryan shares four additionalโ childrenโ with his ex-wife, Carly Matros, from whom heโ separated in 2020 after โค13 โคyears of marriage. He did not participate โฃin the “Home Improvement” cast reunion in โฃSeptember 2023. Bryan is currently being held without bail โขand isโ scheduled โคfor release on Wednesday, โaccording โฃto Laneโค County Jail records.
