PARIS – Huawei expanded its โฃglobal footprint Friday with teh launch โof its Nova 14 smartphone andโข a new generation of smartwatches, โintensifying competition in both marketsโ as Apple began shipping its iPhone 17.
The company unveiled the Watch GT 6, available in 46mm โคand โค41mm sizes, boasting battery life โคofโ up to 21 โdays โขfor the largerโ model – a 50 percent enhancement over โits predecessor -โค and 14 days for the smaller version, doubling theโ previous generation’sโค performance.โ Huawei alsoโค improvedโค the GT 6’s โpositioning accuracy by 20 percent through โantenna redesign, algorithmic โupdates, โคand theโ addition of India’s NavIC navigation satelliteโ system, bringing the total number of positioning systems โto โsix.
Alongside the GT 6, Huawei launched the Watch Ultimate 2, featuring โa “mechanicalโฃ seal” for water resistance up to 150 meters and sonar dialog technology โคenabling underwater messaging between watches up โto 30 meters.
“We redesigned the โantenna, the algorithms and โadded โฃNavICโ (India’s navigationโฃ satellite system) as the sixthโข positioningโ system,” said Andreas Zimmer, Huawei’s headโ of product in theโค European Union, โฃin a pre-launch โฃinterview.
Theโ Nova 14 smartphone’s global release follows its debut in China four months prior. Huawei currently leads the global wrist-worn wearables market, holding 20 percent market share withโฃ 9.9โ million units shippedโค in the second quarter,โข surpassing Xiaomi and Apple, according to IDC data.The companyโข has maintained market leadership for โขtwo consecutive quarters.
