written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Budget Committee approves budget for 2024

After a long political struggle, the Budget Committee of the Bundestag has approved the budget for the current year. It includes expenditure of almost 477 billion euros. New loans worth around 39 billion euros are planned. This would mean that the debt brake would be fully effective again after years. The Bundestag and Bundesrat still have to approve the new budget – probably at the beginning of February. | Jan 18, 2024 9:05 p.m

Deportations should become easier

The Bundestag has passed a legislative package for simplified deportations. The measures are intended to prevent deportations from failing at the last moment in the future. Among other things, the legal maximum duration of so-called exit custody will be extended from 10 days to 28 days. In addition, officials are now allowed to enter the rooms of other residents in asylum accommodation. The bill was briefly removed from the agenda at the end of last year because the Greens had called for improvements. Among other things, it is now ensured that those affected are provided with a lawyer.| Jan 18, 2024 9:05 p.m

NATO is holding major exercises with 90,000 soldiers

NATO wants to prepare for the event of a Russian attack and carry out the largest maneuver since the end of the Cold War. According to the alliance, the main aim is to train how national and multinational units can be relocated as quickly as possible. Around 90,000 soldiers are to be mobilized for this purpose. 51,000 soldiers were deployed in the largest NATO exercise to date in 2018. If a member state were actually attacked by Russia or another state, the so-called alliance case would occur. Afterwards, all NATO members must provide military support to their attacked partner. | Jan 18, 2024 9:05 p.m

Hate speech on the internet should become an EU crime

According to the will of the European Parliament, hate speech on the Internet and in social media should in future be classified as an EU crime. The MPs voted for the corresponding project with a large majority. They hope for better protection against hate speech – especially for vulnerable groups and minorities. If online hate speech were to be added to the list of EU crimes, it would be made clear across Europe what falls under hate speech and what is punishable. However, there is currently no agreement on the issue among the 27 EU states that have to agree to the plan. | Jan 18, 2024 9:05 p.m

Federal Agriculture Minister Özdemir Rejects Further Concessions to Farmers

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com January 6, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Özdemir: No further concessions to farmers

In the discussion about subsidy cuts, Federal Agriculture Minister Özdemir rejected further demands from farmers. He could no longer accommodate the farmers because this would have to be counter-financed. At the same time, Özdemir differentiated on ZDF between a legitimate protest by farmers and actions like the one on Thursday evening against Economics Minister Habeck. Anyone who now believes that they can blackmail politicians or make an impression with fantasies of subversion will see that the majority and politicians are clearly against it. Meanwhile, Federal President Steinmeier has expressed his horror at the escalation of a protest against Habeck on the North Sea coast. It was also a shock for him to see a minister on a private trip being intimidated by an aggressive crowd. Steinmeier warned in “Bild” that this should not be tolerated. Demonstrations are part of democracy and criticism of the government is legitimate, said the head of state. However, calls for hatred and violence exceeded the limits of what was justified. | Jan 6, 2024 12:35 am

Handball Sport Club Hamburg Suffers Devastating Defeat in Bundesliga Relegation Battle Against SC Magdeburg

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com December 21, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

As of: December 20, 2023 11:09 a.m

The Handball Sport Club Hamburg has finally arrived in the Bundesliga relegation battle after the 28:43 disaster against SC Magdeburg. The Hanseatic League’s performance in the first half against the club world champions was unworthy of a team that almost made it into the European Cup last season.

At the end of his four-minute statement at the press conference after the duel with the “Gladiators”, Torsten Jansen had found his sense of humor again. “Despite everything, Merry Christmas to everyone, a happy new year and a nice life and all that,” concluded the HSVH coach, laughing heartily. The 2007 world champion had previously criticized his team harshly, which is currently making his life particularly difficult in his fifth year in office.

Jansen: “In retreat under all the chaos”

“It was still within reach until 6:10. After that, we simply didn’t score any more at the front and were in a complete retreat. That’s not enough against any opponent – and especially not against Magdeburg,” said the 46-year-old. “This is a top European team, if you move back so lethargically then you’ll get hit one after the other.”

Tissier: “Worst half of the season”

At the end of a memorable evening in the multi-purpose hall in the Volkspark, Jansen and his Hamburgers suffered the biggest defeat after returning to the first division in 2021. In the first 30 minutes, which went to the guests with a score of 27:9 (!), the HSVH was demonstrated in every way. Of course, Jansen’s tough analysis included the fact that Magdeburg had an “astronomical effectiveness” in attack of 90 percent of converted throws. “This might happen to you once in your handball life,” the coach said later.

At halftime it got very loud in the dressing room, as middleman Leif Tissier revealed in an interview with NDR: “Each of us knew that we weren’t allowed to present ourselves like that here, that it was simply not befitting our status.” It was “the worst half of the season,” added the playmaker. “I also got a kick out of it because we were a group of pensioners in retreat,” explained Jansen.

HSVH has been winless for five games

After just one point from the last five games, the air is getting thinner for HSVH in the bottom of the table. The lead over table 17th. ThSV Eisenach, who occupies the first relegation spot, still has four points. However, in view of the negative pressure that the Hanseatic people have found themselves in, the utmost attention is required.

“We have to give it our all again and clear our heads so that we can show what we’re actually capable of again. That’s much, much more than we’ve shown so far,” said Jansen, looking ahead to the last game of the year on Saturday ( 8.30 p.m.) at TBV Lemgo Lippe.

Then the trainer mused – not when asked, but on his own initiative – about the reasons for the Hamburg crisis, revealing a certain helplessness and powerlessness. “It’s so complex, there are so many factors involved – it almost leaves me speechless because at some point you no longer have any influence.”

Jansen hopes for a liberation in Lemgo

The European Championship break after the Lemgo game undoubtedly comes at a good time for the Hanseatic League, who have had a lot of bad luck with injuries this season. At least pivot Andreas Magaard (broken rib) will probably be able to play again when the Bundesliga restarts at the beginning of February. Meanwhile, the season is over for backcourt player Dominik Axmann (torn cruciate ligament). It is not yet clear whether HSVH will sign a replacement.

In any case, Jansen will have to make do without reinforcements in Lemgo. The coach is still confident that the trend reversal can be achieved there. As weak as his team’s performance was in the first half against Magdeburg, he was just as convincing in the second round, which was won 19:16. “We didn’t let ourselves be slaughtered. That gives me a good feeling for the last game,” said Jansen .

One thing is already certain: the coach definitely has a reason to celebrate on Saturday: he will be 47 years old on the day of the Lemgo game.

Deutsche Bahn Plans Renovation of Routes in Lower Saxony by 2030: Hamburg-Hannover Route Controversy and Proposed Time Windows

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com October 28, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

As of: September 15, 2023 6:45 p.m

Deutsche Bahn wants to renovate almost a dozen routes in Lower Saxony by 2030. This also includes the controversial general renovation of the Hamburg-Hannover route. A date has not yet been set.

Nationwide, 40 important routes are to be renovated, eleven of these routes run through Lower Saxony. This was presented on Friday in Frankfurt at the so-called rail summit. Work on the Hamburg-Hannover line was previously scheduled for 2026, but Lower Saxony’s Economics Minister Olaf Lies (SPD) recently suggested postponing the general renovation until 2029. The reason for this is the dispute over the route of the planned expansion or new construction of the important ICE route. Lies would like to use the general renovation to carry out initial work for the later expansion or new building. But for this to happen, the route must be determined.

Renovation in Lower Saxony: Bahn names possible time windows

The railway named two possible time windows for the general renovation: the first half of 2026 or 2029. “The Hamburg-Hannover route is listed twice because a final decision has not yet been made for the general renovation of this route during the year,” explained a railway spokeswoman. The coordination between the Federal Ministry of Transport and the state is still ongoing. According to the railway, stations, tracks, switches, control and safety technology are to be modernized on the 189 kilometer long route.

General renovation: Which routes are affected?

In addition to the Hamburg-Hannover route, the following routes in Lower Saxony and Bremen are to be completely renovated:

Berlin-Lehrte (227 kilometers, first half of 2027)Bremen-Bremerhaven (92 kilometers, second half of 2027)Hamburg-Bremen (181 kilometers, first half of 2028)Uelzen-Stendal (107 kilometers, second half of 2028)Nordstemmen-Göttingen (81 kilometers , second half of 2028)Lehrte-Groß-Gleidingen (37 kilometers, first half of 2029)Bremen/Rotenburg-Wunstorf (129 kilometers, second half of 2029)Bremen-Osnabrück (117 kilometers, first half of 2030)Osnabrück-Münster (50 kilometers, also first half of 2030)Wunstorf-Minden (42 kilometers, second half of 2030)

Distribution of General Practitioners and Pediatricians in Hamburg: Findings and Challenges

Distribution of General Practitioners and Pediatricians in Hamburg: Findings and Challenges

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com October 18, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

As of: October 18, 2023 4:53 p.m

The Hamburg Left Party asked the Senate which district of Hamburg has how many family doctors and pediatricians. The current figures are now available.

One of Hamburg’s smaller districts has the most family doctors: Almost 10,000 people live in Hoheluft-Ost – and there were more than 60 family doctors registered there at the beginning of the year. However, many of them work part-time. Rahlstedt comes in second place. Hamburg’s largest district has around 96,000 residents who are cared for by 54 family doctors. Closely followed by Billstedt and Hamburg-Altstadt. The worst performers include very small districts like Francop in the south of Hamburg, where there are no family doctor practices.

Few pediatrician practices in the east of Hamburg

Rahlstedt is also a stronghold for pediatricians. 16 practice there, followed by the districts of Harburg and Eimsbüttel. There are few pediatric practices in the east of Hamburg – this has already been brought to the attention of politicians. Overall, there are few changes compared to the previous year when it comes to the distribution of general practitioners and pediatricians’ practices in Hamburg.

The map shows how many general practitioners or pediatricians practice in the Hamburg districts with a view to the relevant population. In Hamburg there is on average less than one pediatrician per 1,000 minors. The same applies to family doctors. Of these, too, there is less than one per 1,000 adult Hamburg residents.

High density of doctors in central parts of the city

In both cases it can be seen that central districts such as the old town or Harburg have a high density of doctors. However, in over half of the districts there is not a single doctor for pediatricians and adolescents, so additional routes are often necessary. When it comes to family doctors, most parts of the city have at least one, although there are some larger parts of the city without a family doctor at all.

AUDIO: New figures on the distribution of general practitioners and pediatrician practices (1 min)

Further information

There are too few pediatrician practices in the east of Hamburg. The Hamburg-Mitte district is therefore putting pressure on the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians. (10/10/2023) more

The equal supply of general practitioners and pediatricians will likely remain a problem for some time to come, according to the Health Committee. (09/02/2023) more

An outpatient surgery appointment is difficult to get. Doctors and health insurance companies have been arguing about fees for months. (08/17/2023) more
