Eminem Joins jack White in Surprise Performance During NFL Thanksgiving Halftime Show
Detroit Lions fans received an unexpected treat during today’s game against the Green Bay Packers as rapper Eminem made a surprise appearance alongside musician Jack White during the NFL’s Thanksgiving halftime show. The performance, which took place as the Packers led 17-14, featured a medley of hits and marked a meaningful moment for the league’s evolving approach to musical entertainment.
The collaboration underscores a new multi-year partnership between the Detroit Lions and Eminem, whose real name is marshall Mathers, announced earlier this month. Mathers and his manager,Paul Rosenberg, will oversee musical performances at the team’s Thanksgiving games through 2027,signaling a long-term commitment to elevating the game-day experience. This move comes as the NFL increasingly recognizes the power of music to engage audiences and enhance viewership.
White opened the show with “that’s How I’m Feeling” from his 2024 album No Name, before being joined by eminem for performances of “Hello Operator” from The White Stripes’ 2000 album De Stijl, and a remix of Eminem’s 2002 hit “‘Till I Collapse” from The Eminem Show. White than launched into his signature stadium anthem,”Seven Nation Army.”
The production of the halftime show was led by Jesse Collins Entertainment, the company behind The Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show featuring Kendrick Lamar and Netflix’s Beyonce Bowl, which featured Beyoncé during the 2023 NFL Christmas Gameday.
The Lions-Packers game was also available for free streaming on Tubi, the Fox-owned ad-supported video-on-demand platform, which also streamed the Super Bowl earlier this year.
