Missouri Football’s Pribula Suffers Ankle Injury, Future Uncertain

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor October 30, 2025
written by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Missouri⁤ quarterback Beau Pribula will miss an undetermined amount‌ of time with an injury sustained during Saturday’s ‍game against Vanderbilt,‍ the team announced. The injury, the nature of which has not been disclosed, occurred during the second quarter of the 31-17‍ loss⁢ at⁢ FirstBank Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.

Pribula transferred to Missouri from penn State last December and won the starting quarterback job following⁣ an injury ⁤to Brady Horn in August. He started eight games for‌ the ⁢Tigers, averaging 210.6 passing yards per game with 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions, completing 70% of his ‌passes. He also rushed for 27.5 yards per game. His⁢ absence creates uncertainty at the quarterback position for Missouri as it navigates the remainder ⁢of its season.

While the⁢ severity and specific timeline for Pribula’s return remain unclear, Missouri officials indicated the ⁢injury is not expected to be career-ending. Despite being listed as a graduate student, Pribula retains ‌one year of eligibility.

“I’m hurt for him, you know? I’ve been in that situation,” Mizzou center Connor Tollison said Saturday after the ‌game. “It’s not fun.You never know when your last play could be or‍ (when) your⁤ next play will⁤ be. So, just sad to see that happen.”

Matt Zollers replaced Pribula against Vanderbilt, completing 10 of 19 passes for 139 yards and one interception.

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor October 27, 2025
written by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Josh Elander Officially Named Tennessee Baseball Coach, Signs Five-Year, $1⁣ Million Deal

KNOXVILLE – Josh Elander has been officially named the new head baseball coach ‍for the University of Tennessee, signing a five-year⁣ contract worth⁣ $1 million annually, according to a memorandum of understanding obtained by knox News. ‍the appointment follows the ⁤recent departure of Tony Vitello⁢ and marks a new era for the Volunteers’ nationally-ranked program.

Elander’s hiring by athletics director Danny White was ⁢finalized on October⁣ 25th. Previously serving as the associate head coach, Elander was earning $485,000 per year. The new contract represents a notable increase in compensation, reflecting the ⁢program’s success and expectations for continued performance. ⁢

The ‌contract⁤ includes a tiered bonus structure tied to postseason achievements. Elander can‌ earn up to $200,000 for winning the College World Series, wiht ⁢additional bonuses for ⁤reaching the finals ($160,000), the College World Series⁤ ($140,000), a Super Regional ($100,000), hosting a Regional⁢ ($60,000), and appearing in a Regional ‌($40,000).

Success within the ‍Southeastern conference also carries financial incentives. Elander is eligible ⁢for an ⁤$80,000 bonus for winning either the SEC regular-season title or the SEC⁢ Tournament title, ‌and a $20,000 bonus for reaching the SEC‍ Tournament.

Should⁣ Elander be ‍terminated without cause, his buyout⁣ clause stipulates he will receive 50% of his remaining contract pay.For context, former coach Tony Vitello was earning $3‍ million annually after receiving a record-setting contract ⁣in August ⁢2024, a substantial increase from⁤ his initial five-year deal‍ in 2017 which averaged⁣ $493,000‍ annually.

Florida Football Coaching Search: Kiffin, Brohm, and Beyond

by Emma Walker – News Editor October 26, 2025
written by Emma Walker – News Editor

Florida Turns to ‍Louisville’s Jeff Brohm as Plan B in Coaching Search

GAINESVILLE, FL – With Lane Kiffin⁢ seemingly entrenched at ‌Ole miss, the University of florida is increasingly focused on Louisville’s Jeff Brohm as its primary alternative in the ⁣ongoing⁣ search for a new head football coach, sources⁣ indicate. The shift in focus‍ comes as concerns linger regarding other potential candidates’ ability to consistently succeed in high-stakes SEC competition.

The Gators’ coaching search began after Billy Napier was fired following a 22-23 record over three seasons. Florida officials are determined to avoid repeating that ⁢outcome, seeking a coach capable of not only stabilizing the ⁤program but also contending for SEC championships.

While candidates like Missouri’s Eli Drinkwitz and Penn State’s James Franklin have been ⁢discussed,⁣ both carry⁤ notable question marks. Drinkwitz’s record in marquee games remains a concern, and Franklin’s history suggests a potential struggle to elevate his performance in the more consistently competitive SEC. Franklin is viewed⁣ as‍ a conservative option, ‌accepting a ceiling short of national championship‍ contention.

Other names ⁤surfacing, including south Florida’s Alex Golesh and Washington’s ⁤Jedd Fisch, present perceived ⁢risks. Florida is reportedly‍ hesitant to hire another coach from the ‌Group of Five⁣ ranks after⁣ the Napier experience, ⁢complicating a ⁣potential pursuit of Golesh despite his potent⁢ offense and recruiting ties in Florida. Fisch,a Florida alumnus, lacks recent SEC coaching experience, having served ⁤as a graduate assistant under Steve Spurrier and achieving‌ one successful season at Arizona.

Georgia Tech’s Brent Key has garnered attention for the Yellow Jackets’ recent improvement, ⁢but his situation is complicated by potential playoff contention and‍ the inability to bring key players, like sixth-year senior quarterback Haynes King, with him.

Brohm, a former Purdue standout quarterback, has revitalized the Louisville program, offering a ‍proven track record ⁢of offensive success and ⁢a familiarity with the SEC footprint. He represents a high-percentage option, though potentially requiring him to leave his alma mater.

Kentucky Football: Stoops Buyout Could Cost Wildcats Dearly

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor October 9, 2025
written by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Kentucky Football: Pressure Mounts to Invest Like Indiana‌ Amid Stoops Buyout Concerns

LEXINGTON,‍ KY – As Kentucky football faces a critical juncture with head coach Mark Stoops, the university is increasingly urged to⁣ mirror Indiana’s recent⁢ aggressive investment in‌ its football program, potentially avoiding a⁣ costly and disruptive coaching change. Stoops’⁤ contract, which runs ⁢through ‍2028, includes a significant buyout clause – $37.7 million if terminated after‌ December ⁣1,‍ and $38.8 million‍ if terminated during the season, according to USA TODAY’s coaches salary database.

The financial implications of dismissing Stoops are substantial, but a failure to act decisively could lead to a prolonged period of instability. This situation echoes a recent chance Indiana had to hire Dusty May, the current head basketball coach at Michigan, after the 2023-24 ⁢season. Instead of forcing a ⁤change, Indiana retained Mike Woodson, allowing May to except‌ a position elsewhere. Kentucky now finds itself at a similar‌ crossroads, needing to proactively address ⁢its football leadership.

The parallel to Indiana’s basketball situation highlights the importance of⁤ swift‌ decision-making. Kentucky has ⁤a potential candidate in former linebacker Jon Sumrall, who has achieved success as head coach at Troy and currently at⁢ Tulane. Like May,⁢ Sumrall⁣ is widely considered a rising star unlikely to remain at a mid-major program for long.

Historically, Kentucky ⁤has demonstrated a willingness to invest in football, but now is not the⁤ time for fiscal restraint. A proactive approach, mirroring Indiana’s willingness to invest in⁣ basketball, could secure a promising future for the program and ‍avoid a potentially crippling financial burden.
