For non-prime users, the system checks for pre-existing site settings to determine whether to activate Google and Facebook campaigns. If these settings are not readily available,the system retrieves them from a designated API endpoint. This ensures that marketing efforts are activated only when appropriate and configured.
For prime users,the system prioritizes a tailored experience,potentially bypassing certain campaign activations or adjusting them based on their subscription status. The Survicate integration, in particular, allows for the setting of visitor traits, such as user subscription status and geolocation, to customize survey delivery and gather more relevant feedback. The system ensures that Survicate is initialized correctly, either by directly calling its methods or by listening for a ‘SurvicateReady’ event.
The TimesApps.toiplus_site_settings object is central to this update, holding configuration details for campaign activation. The system dynamically loads Google and Facebook event tracking scripts and the Survicate JavaScript based on the values within this object and the user’s prime status. This adaptive approach ensures that resources are utilized efficiently and that the user experience remains seamless.
In cases where initial site settings are not available, TimesApps utilizes a fallback mechanism by fetching the necessary configuration from a specified URL. This ensures that the system can adapt to different deployment scenarios and maintain its functionality.
