The KPK’s probe coincides with the government’s recent revocation of permits for several mining companies operating in the Raja Ampat Geopark due to environmental violations.

KPK’s Preliminary Findings

Setyo Budiyanto confirmed that the KPK had initiated a study to assess the potential for corruption within the mining sector of Raja Ampat. The investigation aims to determine if irregularities occurred during the permit issuance process. As of now, the KPK has not confirmed whether the study has revealed definitive evidence of corruption.

“Yes, we have indeed conducted a study through the Deputy for Coordination and Supervision,” Setyo stated at the KPK ACLC Building in Jakarta on Friday, June 13, 2025. “However, whether the study indicates corruption is still under review, and further processes are required.”
