Apple Plans More Affordable ‘Vision Air’ Headset for 2027
CUPERTINO, CAโ – September 3, 2025 – Apple is developing a lighter and considerably more affordableโ version of its Vision Pro mixed-reality headset, tentativelyโข named “Vision Air,” with a โprojected launch in 2027. This new device aims to broaden the appeal of Apple’s spatial computing technology by addressing key concerns about weight and price.
According toโข Appleโฃ analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Vision Air is expected to weigh approximately 500 grams – over 40% less than the current Vision Pro, which weighs around 1.375โ pounds. This reduction is intended toโ resolve complaints regarding the bulkiness of the original headset. Reports suggest apple may utilize โฃa titanium internal frame and a slimmer design to achieve this weight loss without compromising โdurability.
Perhaps โthe most significant change will be the price. Kuoโ anticipates the Vision Air willโข cost more than 50% less thanโ the vision Pro, currently priced โขat $3,499. This would bring โฃthe Vision Air’s price point down to around $1,750, positioning it closer โin cost to Apple’s premium Mac lineup andโค making it accessible โขto a wider consumer base.
Kuo projects Apple could sell one millionโ Vision โคAir units in 2027, aโข substantial increase compared to the estimated 400,000 Vision Pro headsets expected to ship.
Whileโ the Visionโค Air isโ still over two years away,Apple is also โreportedly working on a second-generation vision Pro. this update, possibly launching โฃin late 2025 or early 2026, is expected to feature an โขupgraded processor – either the M4โฃ or M5 chip – and a redesigned head strap to improve comfort. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has also indicated a more powerful neural engine is in development to enhance AI performance within immersive environments.
however, the Vision Pro 2 is not expected to seeโ a price reduction, maintaining theโฃ line’s position in the ultra-premium market until the arrival of the vision Air.
