Via Shares Closeโค Slightly Above IPO Price in First day of trading
NEW YORK – Via Transportation,aโค leading โขprovider of on-demand transit technology, concluded โits first day of trading as a public company โwith shares closing slightly above its initial public offering (IPO) price. The companySโ debut on the Nasdaq comes after raisingโ $100 million through itsโ IPO, a move CEO Damiel Ramot says willโ bolster growth, sales, and marketing efforts, and potentially fund future acquisitions.
Via initially launched โin 2012โค by operating Via-branded shuttles, but has since pivotedโฃ to focus on its core business: a real-time routing algorithm that powers microtransit solutions for cities and transit agencies. The company’s technology is currently utilized by 689 cities andโ transit agencies globally. Ramot emphasizedโข the โคsuccessful IPO reflects “the durability ofโค the company,” adding, “We are grateful for the feedback and support from our team, โpartners, and investorsโฃ who made this milestone possible.”
The companyโ intends to leverage the funds raised not for immediate operational needs, but for strategicโ expansion. Ramot indicatedโ a willingness to โexplore acquisitions similar to those of Remix, a bus planning company acquired in 2021 for โฃ$100 million, and CityMapper, a journey planningโ app purchased in 2023. He clarifiedโฃ that future acquisitions would focusโ on complementary technologiesโ rather than market share gains.
Via’s โคfinancial performanceโ demonstrates meaningful growth, with revenue increasing approximately โค30% year-over-year. โThe company projects $429 million in revenue for 2025, based on its current quarterly performance. In the first six monthsโค of 2025,Viaโฃ generated $205.7 million in revenue, while simultaneouslyโข reducing its losses to $37.5 million, down from $50.4 million duringโ the same period last year.
while still โขoperating at a loss, Ramot stated Via is โขnearing profitability, thoughโ he declinedโค to provide specific โคprojections. He highlighted the company’s success as evidence that serving government customers can be a sustainable and lucrative business model, especiallyโค in supporting riders of microtransitโ and paratransitโค systems.
“Low income people, people with disabilities, students โฃ- those are the demographics that we typically support,”โ Ramot saeid. “It’s reallyโ nice to see investorsโ actually support that.”
