UK Braces for Six Days of Blizzards as Heavy Snowfall Looms
London, UK – The Unitedโ Kingdom is preparing for a important winter weather event, with forecasts predicting six โconsecutive days of blizzards bringing potentialโค snowfall rates of upโ toโฃ 5cm per โฃhour. The heaviest snow is expected to impact northern areas, โคbut weather charts indicate the possibility of โขflakes reaching as far south as Southampton.
Theโฃ impending snowfall comes as the Met Office signals a shift in weather patterns, moving from current unsettled conditions towards a possibly drier, cooler period mid-November. While the long-range forecast remains uncertain, the agency highlights an increased chance of high pressure systems bringing overnight โfrost and fog alongside the wintry precipitation. This forecast isโค notably relevant โคas the โUK enters a period where colder spells are becoming increasingly likely.
Accordingโข to forecasts,โฃ drier spells are anticipated, particularly in eastern and northern regions. However, clear skies and light winds will create conditions conducive to frost and fog โฃformation, potentially causing travel disruptions.
The Met office’sโ long-range outlook, covering โNovember 21 to December 5, indicates a risk of hill snow, primarily in the north, alongside spells of โขrain and stronger winds, especially in โtheโฃ west. Whileโ near or slightly above average temperatures are most likely โthe possibilityโ of โcolder spells โremains, particularly if โฃsettled weather patterns develop.โ
“Whilst theโ expected weather patterns during late November are highly uncertain, โthere is a greater chance of spells ofโข highโ pressure during this โperiod, bringing more in the way of dry weather compared to the current weather pattern, which alsoโฃ increases the chances of overnight fog and frost,” the Met Office stated.
