Springfield Police Arrest Three Following July Drive-By Shooting
SPRINGFIELD, MA (October 26, 2025) – The Springfield Police Department’s Firearms Investigation Unit has arrested three individuals in connection with a drive-by shooting that occured on Miller Street in the early hours of July 5th. The arrests follow the release of a Snapchat video depicting the incident.
According to police spokesperson Ryan Walsh, detectives responded to reports of shots fired around 2:00 a.m. in a residential neighborhood. The video, obtained by Springfield Police, shows occupants of a vehicle allegedly discharging firearms from the window while laughing and encouraging one another. Several bullets struck occupied homes, penetrating living room couches and windows.
“There were a few occupied houses that were struck; bullets went into living room couches through windows,” Walsh stated.
springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno expressed strong disapproval of the incident, stating residents, including seniors and families, contacted him directly after their homes were hit by gunfire.
The investigation, conducted in collaboration with the Westfield Police Department, led to the identification of three suspects:
* Joseph Rossi, 22, of Southwick: Rossi has a prior history of drug trafficking charges originating in Westfield. He voluntarily surrendered to police in July and remains in custody.
* Douglas Moss, 22, of Springfield: Moss is visible in the Snapchat video allegedly firing a weapon from the vehicle. He has a prior record of interactions with the Springfield Police Firearms Unit, including existing open charges.
* Brennan O’Connor, 21, of Springfield: Following identification, arrest warrants were issued and executed for O’Connor.
Authorities currently believe the shooting was not targeted, a circumstance Walsh described as unusual.
the Hampden District Attorney’s Office intends to pursue dangerousness hearings for all three suspects, citing the severity of the crime and their prior involvement with law enforcement.
