AI-Powered System โPromises Personalized Espresso, Reduced Waste
CAMERINO, ITALY – A collaborative project between the โขUniversity of โคCamerino (Unicam)โ and Simonelli โGroup is poised to revolutionize espresso readiness with โ”InSiliCoffee,”โฃ aโฃ systemโ leveragingโข artificial intelligence to createโ tailor-made coffeeโฃ experiences. The technology utilizes two digital twins – virtually replicating the roasting and โpercolation processes – and an artificial neuralโ network toโฃ optimize extraction parametersโ based on individualโ customer preferences.
InSiliCoffee accounts for โฃvariables including coffee grain size, water pressure, temperature, and extraction time. the software “learns” to prepare the perfect coffee for each user, with future applications โฃenvisioned โas โa personalized “coffee Spotify,” saving and recalling individual extractionโค profiles.
The project builds uponโค existing patents, including the Customizable Coffee Dispensing System, and โrepresents a multi-disciplinary โขeffortโ involving mathematicians, computer scientists, geologists, โฃchemists,โ biologists, and technicians.
Beyond โขpersonalization, InSiliCoffee aims to improve sustainability by optimizing resource use and reducing waste โฃin the coffeeโฃ extraction process.”Optimizing extraction parameters meansโ reducing waste of raw materials and optimizing the use of energy โresources,”โข the article states.
“The project demonstrates how scientific research canโ translate into concrete innovation โฃfor โtheโ localโ production fabric,” said โฃGraziano Leoni, rector of โฃUnicam. The innovation is expected to drive โฃthe next evolution of โItalian espresso from the Marche region,a hub for coffee machine โmanufacturing.
