Porepunkah, Victoria – Police conducted firearms testingโข nearโฃ Porepunkah on Wednesday following reports of a gunshot heard inโฃ theโข vicinity of a property linked to Deziโฃ Freeman, a manโ wantedโ in connection with the fatal shooting of โฃtwo police officers in August.
The โtesting took place around Barrett Lane and Rayner Track, approximately where โMr. Freeman was last seen โfleeing on โfoot โคafter an alleged attack on police executing a warrant at his Rayner Track property around 10:30 am on Augustโข 26th. Detective leading senior Constable Neal Thompson โขandโ Senior Constable Vadim de Waart-Hottart were killed during โthe incident, and aโค third officerโค wasโ seriously injured.
Mr. Freeman remains at large, and a $1 million reward remainsโ in place for information leading โto his arrest.Despite extensive searches, policeโ have found noโ trace of him.Investigatorsโฃ are hopeful the firearms testing will aid the ongoing search andโ are appealing for anyone who heard the gunshot โฃ- including those who may believe โthey fired it – toโ come forward.
A new taskforce assumed leadership of the search โฃlast month, focusing on โVictoria’s north-east region.
