Sony has unveiled the Flexstrike, an arcade-style control surface designed for the playstation 5. The device features a joystick, eight durable buttons with mechanical switches, and a touchpad. It connects wirelessly with ultra-low latency via a USB PlayStation Link adapter, and also offers a USB-C wired connection. A protective cover is included.
The PlayStation 5 console can support two Flexstrike controllers simultaneously using a single PlayStation Link adapter. Alternatively, a Flexstrike can be paired with a compatible audio device, such as the Pulse Elite or Pulse Explore wireless headphones, using the same adapter. The Flexstrike can also be used in conjunction with a standard DualSense controller for menu navigation and other functions.
The base of the Flexstrike is equipped with a non-slip rubber mat. Removing this mat reveals interchangeable restrictor gates, which alter the joystick’s range of motion. Three gate options-circular, square, and octagonal-are provided and can be stored in dedicated slots on the base. A separate slot on the base is available for storing the link adapter.
The announcement of the Flexstrike coincides with the presentation of Sony’s Marvel Tลkon: Fighting Souls game, also slated for release next year. The Flexstrike is anticipated to be an ideal controller for fighting games such as Street Fighter 6,Tekken 8,and Mortal Kombat 1.
Details regarding the price and a more precise release date beyond “at some point in 2026” have not yet been disclosed.
