Oasis to allow manchester City Shirts at São Paulo Show,Breaking Tradition
São Paulo,Brazil – Britpop legends Oasis, returning to the stage in 2025 after a 15-year hiatus, are making a unique exception to standard concert protocol for their upcoming show in São Paulo. While team shirts are typically prohibited at large events in Brazil to prevent fan conflicts, organizers will permit attendees to wear jerseys supporting Manchester City and the English national team.
The decision, announced by the show’s producer via a statement and social media posts, acknowledges the deep and longstanding connection between the band – brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher – and the Manchester City Football club.
“For safety, national team t-shirts are prohibited, exceptionally national team t-shirts are permitted. Manchester City and the English team,” Live Nation reported.
The Gallagher brothers grew up in Manchester and were devoted followers of the club, even during periods of limited success. This passion became interwoven with Oasis’s rise to fame in the 1990s, with references to Manchester City appearing on their debut album, “Definitely Maybe,” and their songs becoming anthems for fans both in stadiums and pubs. Their popularity also contributed to the club’s growing international fanbase.
Since the club’s acquisition by the Abu Dhabi group in 2008 and subsequent success, the relationship has flourished, marked by playful interactions on social media and official club merchandise inspired by Oasis’s legacy. The bond remains strong today, celebrated by both the band’s fans and the club’s supporters.
Oasis’s return to the stage marks a critically important moment for music fans, and this special allowance for Manchester City shirts adds a unique layer of connection for those familiar with the band’s history and passions.
