Sony Launches 200MP Lytia 901 Sensor, Aimingโข to Compete with Samsung in Mobile โCamera Technology
JAKARTA – Sony has entered the high-resolution mobile camera sensorโข market with the release of โขits first 200MP sensor, the โLytia โค901. The new sensor is positioned to โฃdirectly challenge Samsung’s existing line of 200MP sensors for smartphones.
The Lytia 901โฃ boasts โaโ 1/1.12-inchโค size with a diagonal of 14.287 mm and โindividual pixels โฃmeasuring 0.7 ฮผm. Sony asserts the sensor delivers โhigh-definition images,โ even when utilizing its 4x in-sensor zoom capability.
A key feature of โขthe Lytia 901 is โits โฃQuad-Quadโ Bayer Coding โ(QQBC)โ configuration. Thisโข groups 16 pixels โ(4×4) by color, processing themโ as a single unitโค equivalent to 12.5MP. Remosacing technology restores the pixel arrangement to its original format when zooming.โข Notably,Sonyโฃ has integrated โคAI-based processing circuitry directly into the sensor – an industry first – to enhance the accuracy of fine details like patterns and text. This also enables high-qualityโ video โrecording at upโ to 30fps with 4x โคzoom at 4K resolution.
To improve image quality, the sensor incorporates DCG-HDRโ technology and a Fine12bit ADC, increasing โbit depth from โ10 to 12 bits. Hybrid Frame โHDRโค (HF-HDR)โ provides a dynamic โrange exceeding 100dB in QQBC mode, suppressing highlights and preserving detail in darker areas to more closely replicate human vision.
The โlytia 901 supportsโค video recording up to 8K at 30fps and โฃ4K at 120fps. Shipments to cellphone manufacturers โare scheduled to beginโ this month, with the Oppo Find X9 Ultra and Vivo X300 Ultraโค rumored โto be among โthe first devices to adoptโ the new sensor.
