Indonesia’s Nickel Downstream Policy: Strengthening Downstream for Increased Value

Jakarta –

The Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) responded to the International Monetary Fund/IMF) who asked Indonesia not to expand its nickel downstream policy by banning the export of raw materials in other commodities.

Spokesperson for the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Jodi Mahardi said Indonesia as a sovereign and developing nation wanted to strengthen downstream to increase added value.

“We feel grateful for the perspective that has been conveyed by the IMF. As a sovereign and developing nation, our view of the future is to strengthen our role in the downstream process, which refers to increasing the added value of our products, not just as an exporter of raw materials ,” said Jodi in an official statement, Thursday (29/6/2023).

“We are dedicated to building a sustainable and progressive economy, involving all levels of Indonesian society,” he added.

In addition, the downstream concept does not only include the process of increasing added value, but also the stages up to recycling which are an integral part of efforts to maintain the balance of the ecosystem and emphasize the importance of sustainability.

“We have no intention to unilaterally dominate all downstream processes. We will carry out the initial stages in Indonesia, but the next stages can still be carried out in other countries, mutually supporting their industries, in the spirit of mutually beneficial global cooperation,” he said.

Infrastructure Development in IKN East Kalimantan: Foreign Nationals Appointed as Supervisors by Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com June 9, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Jakarta –

The progress of infrastructure development in the Archipelago Capital City (IKN), East Kalimantan, was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan in a working meeting with the DPR RI Budget Agency. Luhut appointed foreign nationals or Caucasians as construction supervisors IKN.

Luhut initially explained about his team identifying incentives and capital for the development of land status in IKN. Luhut targets the issue of land status to be resolved by July 27, 2023.

“So the theme of incentives and business capital is the plan to develop the land status area. Ladies and gentlemen, the most important thing is the first below, now this is what we are finishing now, I am after July 27, I am targeting it to be completed,” Luhut said at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta , Friday (9/6/2023).

Luhut said his team would identify the price of the land used, how it was purchased, and investors who wanted to get into it. He said Middle Eastern countries were starting to be interested in the IKN project.

“With what price, then who wants to buy, who wants to enter, we can do all of that. So we are now open to this cooperation. Several countries from the Middle East will also join us,” he said.

Caucasians Become Supervisors

Luhut said that he had directly checked the development progress at the IKN twice. He once promoted this to Singapore and received good enthusiasm.

“Yesterday in Singapore we sold this and they were very enthusiastic and all came in and we hoped it would be 17, not hoping, we have to have an event on August 17 next year. But the quality of the work is key,” said Luhut.

He said that for the supervision of work until August 17, officers from abroad will be used. He wants to get good quality.

“Therefore, I report Mr. President of the supervisor that we are forced with all due respect we use Caucasians to become quality. So, don’t be later, the President, (the work) will be finished, but the quality is not good,” he concluded.

Jakarta –

Menko Marves Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan asked the panel of judges for permission to convey something at the end of the trial for the defamation case with the defendant Haris Azhar and Fatia Maulidiyanti. Luhut said that currently there are many officials who work with heart and risk their lives for this country.

This was revealed by Luhut when testifying at the trial for the defamation case with the defendants Haris Azhar and Fatia Maulidiyanti at the East Jakarta District Court, Thursday (8/6/2023). Initially, Luhut asked the panel of judges for time to convey something.

Luhut thanked his questioners in the courtroom. Luhut advised young people not to harm the Indonesian state.

“Can I give a final comment if allowed? Those who thank you that today’s trial is almost over and I want to say once again to these young people thank you for being questioners and I entrust you are Indonesians so don’t hurt your own country. Our country, this country, Indonesia, continues to advance and develop in the future,” said Luhut.

Luhut asked the public not to view many of these officials as unqualified. In fact, according to Luhut, currently in Indonesia, many officials work with heart to the point of risking their lives for this country.

“And don’t see that there are many officials who are not qualified, many now have hearts and they work with heart and risk their lives for this country,” said Luhut.

“You may have never experienced that, we-we have experienced that and we also don’t want to harm what was proclaimed by the founders of this nation,” he added.

Luhut advised the public not to make conclusions before checking the data. Luhut then alluded to digital footprints that live forever.

“I will leave it once again, before you give any conclusions, look at the existing data, then you will come to a conclusion, so that no one you harm has a digital footprint, yes, it will live forever,” said Luhut.

Furthermore, Haris Azhar and Fatia were charged with defamation:

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com March 3, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Jakarta –

The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan stated electric vehicle subsidies will be announced next week. There is a possibility that the announcement will be made at the beginning of the week.

If nothing goes wrong, the electric vehicle subsidy will be announced on Monday 6 March 2023.

“Hopefully next week an incentive policy (electric vehicle) will come out, yes. Not subsidies. Incentives given to motorbikes and cars,” Luhut said when met at his office, Thamrin number, Central Jakarta, Friday (3/3/2023).

“Yes, Monday we will see,” he continued.

Regarding the form of the incentive, Luhut was reluctant to elaborate, what is clear is that an announcement will be made next week.

“(The form) will be announced later, just wait,” said Luhut briefly.

Previously, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif had confirmed that the policy of providing subsidies for electric vehicles would start in March 2023. Arifin revealed this certainty after holding a coordination meeting at Luhut’s office with several other ministers.

“Our plan is to get going in March,” said Arifin Tasrif at the office of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Central Jakarta, Monday (20/2/2023).

He said this subsidy was targeting conversions to electric motorbikes, buying new motorbikes and new cars. However, for cars, he ensured that they were not in the form of money.

“Conversion motorbikes and also new motorbikes also exist, four-wheeled vehicles also exist but not money,” he said.

Arifin said that by providing electric motorbike subsidies, it was hoped that it would help people have electric vehicles at affordable prices.

Arifin also confirmed that the subsidy for electric motorbikes is around IDR 7 million. “Yes, for motorbikes, the magnitude is roughly that,” he said.

Luhut Unravels the Story Behind Kopiko’s Presence When Visiting Elon Musk in the US

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com February 26, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Jakarta –

Indonesian candy, Curved, was in the spotlight last year. This happened when the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan brought the candy when he met Tesla boss Elon Musk in the United States in April 2022.

Now Luhut is opening up the story behind Kopiko’s presence in his meeting with Elon Musk. This was revealed by him in a podcast conversation with the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno.

Initially, Sandiaga asked why Luhut gave Kopiko when he met Elon Musk. He said this was discussed virally on social media.

“Father made it viral in cyberspace when you gave this Kopiko to Elon Musk, what time did you think at that time sir,” Sandiaga asked Luhut in the Wonderful Indonesia Podcast on Kemenparekraf’s official YouTube channel, quoted on Sunday (26/2/2023).

Luhut admitted that at first he had no intention of bringing Kopiko to a meeting with Elon Musk, but someone told him that the candy had already been taken to space and Elon Musk would have liked it.

It was from there that Luhut finally wanted to bring and offer Curved to his meeting with Elon Musk. According to him there is nothing wrong with bringing Kopiko which is a product made in the country.

“I don’t know anyone who said ‘sir, later if you and Elon Musk offer Kopiko like that.’ I just said that there, I think because it was made in Indonesia, that’s it,” said Luhut.

Hey, his meeting with Elon Musk arrived, during that meeting it was Luhut who offered Kopiko directly to Elon Musk. In fact, Luhut also mentioned that Kopiko had been taken to outer space to Elon Musk.

“Elon look at this Kopiko, Indonesian made. It’s been to anu, to what, space, outer space at the international station,” said Luhut while imitating his conversation with Elon Musk at that time.

Elon Musk also tried Kopiko. The Tesla boss immediately liked the Kopiko taste, said Luhut. So from there the candy immediately went viral.

“Let me try, that’s what he said. He just bit it, ‘oh its good, good’ he said. So it went viral immediately,” continued Luhut.

Thinking of Buying Kopiko Shares
Luhut also said that it was not only the candy that went viral, the shares of the company that produces Kopiko also immediately skyrocketed after the meeting with Elon Musk.

Carried away, Luhut joked that at that time he should have also bought Mayora’s shares, which is a company that produces Kopiko to make a profit.

“So Kopiko’s shares went up. If I knew that, I would buy those shares too,” he joked.

In notes detikcom, Mayora Indah’s shares, codenamed MYOR shares, immediately skyrocketed after Luhut’s meeting with Elon Musk. Especially after the photo of Luhut and Elon Musk posing holding Kopiko.

At that time MYOR’s shares flew up to 4.91% or around 80 points the day after Luhut and Elon Musk’s meeting. At that time, MYOR’s share price reached Rp. 1,710 per share.

Luhut to Professor in Australia: Indonesia is not Banana Republic!

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com February 18, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Jakarta –

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan recently visited Australia National University. He shared this moment by uploading a video on his personal Instagram account @luhut.pandjaitan.

Luhut said he emphasized to the professors and researchers who met him there that Indonesia was not a small, weak country, aka the banana republic (banana republic).

“We’re not a banana republic. Indonesia is already far more developed than you knew before. That’s how I convey to them how our economy after the pandemic and global economic turmoil that never ends continues to grow and is resilient even though many other countries are under pressure because of the two the crisis,” said Luhut in a statement on the upload, Saturday (18/2/2023).

According to him, this condition can be achieved by Indonesia, partly because Indonesia continues to focus on developing the downstream industry. The goal is to increase the added value of Indonesia’s natural wealth.

Therefore, he invited the professors and researchers to visit Indonesia, along with an entourage from the Australian Minister of Industry, Mrs. Madeleines.

“You can see how we really build the downstream industry from upstream to downstream. In addition to adding value to Indonesia’s natural wealth, we also add value to Indonesia’s human resources.

Luhut further said, he wanted these academics to see firsthand how technology transfer was carried out through the establishment of several Industrial Polytechnics for human resource development.

He also believes that if the local workforce is educated and skilled in operating industrial machinery, RI will no longer need to bring in workers from abroad. For this reason, he hopes these academics can prove RI’s seriousness directly through their visit.

“My hope is simple, so that the ‘trust’ that we both need appears because you have proven it yourself, including what is happening in Papua at this time. We have proven one thing that we can do together to build infrastructure and build educated and skilled people. same,” he concluded.
