Aโฃ Life Dedicated to โStyle โandโ Community: Remembering Salvatore James Cutrona Sr.
Salvatore Jamesโค cutrona Sr., a beloved hairstylist and pillar of his community, passedโฃ away peacefully. He โis remembered โfondlyโฃ by hisโค partner of 14 years, โJoseph Gentile, who provided devoted care โand โcompanionship, โespecially during Sal’s final months, offering โconstant comfort, patience, and love. Sal also leaves behindโ his brothers, Vince (Joan), Franny โค(Lisa), and โฃPhil, as well asโฃ numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and โคgreat-nephews whom he cherished deeply.
Born and raised in Wilmington‘s Little Italy neighborhood, Sal took great pride in his family’s deep-rooted traditionsโ and their longstanding connection to St. Anthony of Padua โParish. He graduated from Salesianum School in 1966 and โlater earnedโ his cosmetology licence from the Academy of Hair,launchingโค a โฃremarkableโ 50-year career.
For the past eight years, sal resided inโข Rehoboth beach with Joe,โฃ embracing the joyโ of beachside โขliving and the warmth of โฃa welcoming community.Known for his engaging personality, Sal quickly forged lasting friendships, leaving behind a wide circle whoโ will miss โhis humor, flair, andโค unmistakable โคsparkle. He had a particular fondnessโ forโฃ Halloween, delighting in crafting creative costumes and decorationsโฃ that showcased his imagination.
Sal’s career as a โคhairstylist โฃwas โขa testament to โขhis artistic brilliance โand dedication to making others feel their best.He worked at John โWanamaker & Co., JCPenney, All About โคHair, andโฃ spent over 35 years at Michael Christopher Designs-a salon he considered a second family. โHe became renowned for his master styling skills andโ the โขpersonalโข attentionโ he โgave each client, viewing his professionโค as โa true passion.
Beyond the salon,โ Sal generously volunteered with the โMiss Delawareโ Scholarship Institution for many years. he โtook immense prideโฃ in styling the hair of โฃnumerous Miss Delawares and was โcelebratedโข for designing imaginative, show-stopping shoes for the miss โคAmerica “Show Usโ Your Shoes”โข Parade, creations that perfectlyโ reflected hisโ creativity.
Sal also possessed a deep love for travel, embracing every experience with enthusiasm, curiosity, and joy. His journeys enriched his life, providing โhim โฃwith storiesโ and inspiration he readily shared with others.
