New Cast Embodies Iconic Trio in Latest ‘Harry Potter’ Audiobook Production
A fresh generation of actors is stepping into the wizarding world, lending their voices to a new audiobook recording of the beloved Harry Potter series. Frankie Treadaway, Noah Lester, and Elsie Stanton have been cast as Harry potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger, respectively, bringing new interpretations to the iconic characters for a global audience.
This latest production arrives as the Harry Potter franchise continues to captivate listeners and readers of all ages, decades after the initial book releases. The audiobooks offer a unique entry point for both longtime fans seeking a renewed experience and newcomers discovering the magic for the first time. The actors, all relatively new to professional voice work, express both excitement and a sense of responsibility in portraying such well-known roles.
Treadaway described the challenge of capturing the essence of Harry, particularly during transformative moments, stating,”The Polyjuice Potion, because when you record that,it’s like, you have to really hone in on the actual sound of turning into someone else, and that was one of my favorite magic parts of it.”
Lester shared his pride in representing Ron Weasley, emphasizing the connection to the wider Harry Potter community: “It makes me proud, honestly, to be representing such a great and funny character, but then also, I don’t know, it just makes me… feel a part of this community.”
For Stanton, the role of Hermione is a dream realized.”I’ve dreamt of that since a really young age, and I’ve always looked up to all of the people who played Hermione, like Emma Watson and all those people,” she said.
The actors acknowledge the immense global popularity of the series, with Treadaway noting, “I don’t think we’ll really feel that until it comes out, I guess, because that just makes it more unreal.” Lester echoed this sentiment, adding, “It’s so popular around the world, which makes it more unreal that so many people are going to be interested in this and we don’t even realize it.”
All three expressed a strong desire to continue acting, citing the enjoyable and fulfilling nature of the experience. Lester encapsulated this feeling, stating, “It’s not work if you do something that you love and, honestly, I love acting so much.It makes me feel happy and it makes me feel like my true self.” The trio also emphasized the strong bond they’ve formed through the project, playfully referring to themselves as “the proper trio.”
