Bucks Countyโ Officialsโข Demand answers as Sunoco Repairs Pipeline Following Jet Fuel Leak
UPPERโ MAKEFIELD, PA – November 8, 2025 – Following the finding of a โjet fuel leak earlier this year, Sunocoโฃ and Energy โTransfer are digging โnewโฃ holes to repair the Twin Oaks pipelineโ in Bucks County, promptingโ renewed calls for โaccountability from local and โขfederal officials. The pipeline runs near the Mount Eyre neighborhood in Upper Makefield Township.
The latestโฃ work comes after pipeline inspection โขtools identified “anomalies”โค near the site of the January leak, which originated from a crack in โa repair made in the 1990s.โ While company representatives maintain there is noโค immediate threat to public โฃsafety, U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrickโฃ (R-Pennsylvania) and state sen. โขSteve Santarsiero (D-Bucks) are pressing for greater oversight.
“I spoke with Paul โขroberti, administrator of the federal Pipeline and hazardous Materials Safety โขAdministration (PHMSA),” Santarsiero wrote on โฃsocial media. “I underscored that โSunoco/Energy Transfer has not been a good actor inโฃ dealing with the scores of households in the Mt.Eyre neighborhood area โฆ PHMSA should not take โขthem at their word.”
Fitzpatrick echoedโค those โขconcerns, stating via social media: “We expect a full accounting, and the long-overdue answers our community deserves, by year’s end.”
The Twin Oaks pipeline isโข decades old, but company representatives โขhave previouslyโ argued itsโข lifespan is indefinite due to ongoingโ repair capabilities. โค
Sunoco representatives anticipate completing cleanup of the โdig site on Taylorsville Road by November 14.Residents can find updates at https://uppermakefield.incidentupdates.com/updates/.
