Powerbeats pro 2 to Gain Enhanced Fitness Tracking and Features with iOS 26 Update
Cupertino, CA – Apple is rolling out a significant software update, iOS 26, on September 15th that will bring a host of new features and improvements to the Powerbeats Pro 2 earbuds, particularly in the realm of fitness tracking. The update aims to align the Powerbeats pro 2 experience more closely with that of the recently announced airpods Pro 3.
While initial excitement surrounding the AirPods Pro 3 last week proved fleeting, Apple is now focusing on enhancing the functionality of its Beats lineup. The iOS 26 update will deeply integrate the Powerbeats Pro 2 with Apple’s Fitness app, providing users with more precise data and support for up to 50 different workout types.
For subscribers to Apple Fitness+, the Beats earbuds will display real-time heart rate, calorie burn, and the “Burn bar” metrics. beyond the Fitness app, iOS 26 introduces the ability to monitor heart rate with a single earbud, improved step counting accuracy even without a nearby iPhone, and a faster heart rate reading algorithm. The update also includes proactive features like fit notifications for optimal heart rate monitoring and head-nod/shake detection for responding to Siri prompts during calls or texts.
Notably, a recent Engadget review of the Powerbeats Pro 2 highlighted “mediocre ANC performance,” a factor to consider alongside the new software enhancements. Android users of the Powerbeats Pro 2 will not receive the majority of the Apple-specific features included in the iOS 26 update.
