KEARNEY, Neb.- โKearney Public Schools (KPS) isโ currently addressing a significant โcybersecurity incident that compromised it’sโ technology network this pastโ Friday. The district โขis working diligently โขwith bothโฃ its internal technology โteam and external cybersecurityโ experts toโข pinpoint the source โคof โthe attack and โขrestore full system functionality.
Asโค of Sunday,KPS officials confirmed that the recoveryโ processโ is ongoing and willโฃ unfortunately extend beyond the start of โschool on Monday. โThisโ means โthat critical network-dependent systems, including school phones and computers, will be unavailable to studentsโข and staff.
despite the technical challenges, KPS has assured the community that classes will โproceed as scheduled. However,โฃ parents and guardians should be aware that phone and โemailโฃ interaction with the schools willโ be temporarily disrupted. Anyone needing to contactโ a schoolโ directly is asked to do so in person.
Instruction โwill continue, but the use of digitalโข learning tools will โbe limited untilโ the network is fullyโ operational. The district โฃacknowledges theโข inconvenience this may cause and has expressedโ gratitudeโ for the community’s patience and understanding.
“We understand this may cause inconvenience and appreciate your patience and support as we workโ through this situation,” a KPS spokesperson stated. “Please know that the safety and security of ourโค students, staff, and dataโ remain our highest priorities.”
