Slavia Chairman Guarantees Five More Years with New Owner Pavlo Tykač and Coach Jindřich Trpišovský, Discusses Stadium Expansion to 32,000 Seats

The chairman of the board of directors of football club Slavia Jaroslav Tvrdík promised the new owner Pavlo Tykač that he and coach Jindřich Trpišovský will stay at the Prague club for at least another five years.

In the Total Podcast on websites Slavie also said that Tykač is considering expanding the capacity of the stadium in Eden to 32,000 seats. He indirectly confirmed that one of the richest Czechs bought Slavia from the Chinese group CITIC Group for almost two billion crowns.

“If the club will change the goals and the owner does not wish to recall and replace me, I consider it necessary to keep what I promised him to buy the club. This means that I will lead the club for another five years. I also greatly appreciate that from the very beginning Jindřich Trpišovský approached this,” said Tvrdík.

“Jindra and assistant Zdeněk Houštecký nodded to it. That’s why discussions about Jindra joining the national team were pointless. All three of us agreed that we are willing to fundamentally connect our working lives with the future of Slavia in this way,” added the fifty-five-year-old official.

He is pleased that Tykač, as a big fan of Slavia, has declared that he will never sell the Vršovice club. He indicated how much the owner of the energy and coal company Sev.en Energy bought it from the Chinese. “The amount speculated about, that means less than two billion, if I don’t say it exactly, is plus or minus true. I think it’s a win-win story. The seller is satisfied, who certainly had a successful experience with the club. He got the funds back , which he put into the club. He is handing it over to the owner, who he is convinced will continue to develop it. The buyer is satisfied,” said Tvrdík.

The 20,000-thousand stadium in Eden could accommodate many more fans in the future. “So far, it appears that the option of expanding to 32,000 is still realistic. And that it would be realistic within five years,” Tvrdík pointed out. “Of course, filling the stadium with 32,000 fans, not for some, but for all matches, is a big challenge. For the whole club, for football, the club’s marketing and of course for all fans to start coming to Slavia in disproportionately larger numbers,” added the former defense minister , according to which the reconstruction could take place even without closing the stadium.

Communication and Management Challenges in Absentia: Tiraspol Update from Coach Köstl

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com November 29, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Tiraspol (from our correspondent) – “We last spoke on Tuesday. I reckon we’ll call each other again after training,” Köstl outlined the intensity of communication between him and Trpišovský, who is absent due to a broken nose.

It is probably clear to everyone that the head coach manages the team even remotely, the lineup is subject to his approval. “Jindra has veto power. Logically, he’s the head coach. But we’re debating, the players have known the starting line-up for about two days now,” the assistant smiled. Recently, Trpišovský has always revealed one name before the match, which will jump in from the first minute. Köstl did not follow up on him. “Lukáš Provod will not be the captain,” he said without further details.

Other matters will be solved by the coaching duo during the match itself. That is, if it is possible. “We also experienced an outing without Jindra at Fenerbahce. It’s not an ideal situation, and it’s worse with the operators here. We will try to connect at halftime, it will be more difficult during the game. But we communicate intensively,” Köstl pointed out.

Trpišovský was injured last week during a seemingly harmless fight with players. He did not train for the weekend match with České Budějovice, but Köstl already represented him at the press conference. And on Tuesday around noon, it became clear that the head coach would also miss the four-day trip to Transnistria.

“It’s certainly not pleasant, hopefully the boss will recover soon and be with us. But we have been together for a long time to handle the situation even in this composition,” states the all-rounder Lukáš Provod.

Another assistant, Zdeněk Houštecký, will also be missing from the substitutes, who will serve a one-match ban from UEFA for behavior in the bowels of the stadium during the match with AS Rome.

“I believe that it will not affect the team in any way. We know how anyone behaves, hopefully the players won’t feel anything,” hopes Köstl. And who will he go to for advice? “We’ll see how it goes with the technological aids, but Kolář, Černý, Řehák will be on the bench,” he adds before Thursday’s match, which starts at 21:00 CET, with an hour more in Tiraspol.

Slavia Prague Coach Jindřich Trpišovský Disappointed with Team’s Performance Against Pilsen

He had his say and certainly did not spare the players. Sunday’s explosion with Pilsen was noticeable in every way.

“We said something right away on Sunday in the cabin. Then again on Tuesday, I think very emphatically,” the coach indicates how disillusioned he was.

“I absolutely missed our team’s emotions, stubbornness, desire to reverse the result. Of course, Pilsen played excellently, but from our side it was not what we are used to at home. Maybe for the first time in the six years we’ve been here,” Jindřich Trpišovský is not afraid to say.

The celebrants shot at AS Rome. The bottle tray almost became fatal for the coach. Video: Sport.cz

It appeals to the mental side the most. “We said it to each other. We want to learn and not repeat it. We have to fight more for Slavia, for the jersey, the players feel that way. It cannot be excused that some emotional players have left us. We have to replace them,” emphasizes the coach.

The players have to agree with him. “As for the match with Pilsen, it is true. We ourselves felt that our performance went down, even though we played the game well. This can’t happen to us anymore. We are fighting on three fronts, we want to be successful on each,” adds Michal Tomič.

So far, Šišvani is certainly holding the second place behind AS Rome in the group. A comfortable position in the table therefore gives them the opportunity to focus more on the quality of the game.

At home, we are not used to losing and performing like this, regrets Lukáš Provod. We have to make up for it on Thursday! Video: Sport.cz

“We mainly want to rehabilitate ourselves for Sunday, we feel that the performance was not good in terms of emotion and fighting. We owe a lot to ourselves and to the people. I’m waiting for a big game against a big team. It’s always about what your opponent will allow you to do. Yes, we want to bring out the best in us. So that our football can also be watched well,” agrees Trpišovský.

AS Roma may perceive the match as one of many, with a derby against Lazio waiting for them at the weekend. However, the people of Prague take the duel as a holiday.

“It’s a big match for all of Slavia, we appreciate it. I hope we play the way the fans want us to play, fly around the field on Thursday. It’s a really big game for everyone. We want to show a different face than we showed against Pilsen in the second half,” the coach says.

Sima’s Controversial Statement: Is Sparta the Biggest Club in the Czech Republic?

He became a hit in Slavia and was bounced from it to engage in prestigious Western European leagues. The fans of the red and white team were therefore shocked when the Senegalese footballer Abdallah Sima allegedly declared that the biggest club in the Czech Republic is the rival from Sparta. The 22-year-old attacker then had to put everything into perspective.

“Sparta is the biggest club in the Czech Republic.” This sentence was supposed to be uttered by Sima in an interview with the Scottish newspaper Daily Record before Thursday’s Europa League duel, for which he will come to Letná in Prague with his current team, Glasgow Rangers.

The statement on the website of the Scottish newspaper, which was also taken over by the Czech media, caused an uproar. Even the Senegalese himself realized this. And in communication with Zdenek Houštecký, assistant coach of Slavia Jindřich Trpišovský, he clarified everything.

This is evidenced by a text conversation that Jakub Splavec, Slavia’s director of strategic communication, published on the social network X, formerly Twitter, with the consent of both.

It’s not always the way the media tells us. With the permission and request of both parties involved, I am publishing the conversation between Zdenek Houštecký and Abdallah Sima. pic.twitter.com/YQFFQf8RWX

— Jakub Splavec (@JSplavec_SKS) October 23, 2023

According to Splavek, the attacker also contacted his other acquaintances from the Vršovice club. “During his time here, he developed a close relationship not only with Houšťov, but also with other people from Slavia, to whom he immediately wrote,” declared the team official from Eden.

Splavec also said that Sima himself asked his club and the Scottish media for correction.

On the Daily Record website during Monday actually discovered the edited articlein which Sparta is already described in Sim’s direct speech as “a big club in the Czech Republic.”

Sima spent two years in Slavia, scored 11 goals in 24 league matches and won the championship with them. He transferred to Brighton in the summer of 2021, had loan spells at Stoke, Angers in France and has been at the Scottish club since this summer.

Even without the latest controversy, Glasgow Rangers’ trip to Prague will be a closely watched match.

The events surrounding the rematch of the round of 16 of the Europa League in the spring of 2021, when Scottish club midfielder Glen Kamara accused Sim’s then-teammate Ondřej Kúdela of racism, are vividly remembered.

Even Sparta’s double match with Rangers in the Europa League in autumn 2021 was accompanied by passions. After the match in Prague, coach Steven Gerrard criticized the children’s booing of Kamara, who was sent off.

The Scottish side was not willing to understand that the Finnish midfielder caused negative emotions not by the color of his skin, but by his behavior (not only) on the field. Top officials and politicians intervened in the case.

Slavia Prague Coach Looks to Start a New Era Against Sheriff after Champions League Heartbreak

Slavia Prague Coach Looks to Start a New Era Against Sheriff after Champions League Heartbreak

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com October 4, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

When, 14 years ago, the players of Slavia unexpectedly dropped out of the Champions League qualification with Tiraspol after conceding a goal in the set-up, their current coach Jindřich Trpišovský was sitting in the south stand in Eden, under which the decisive goal was scored.

He personally does not see Thursday’s Europa League match with Sheriff as a chance for revenge and wants to start a more successful era of mutual fights with the team. He also stated at the press conference that he does not consider the match to be crucial in the fight for promotion and that he is preparing changes in the lineup.

In the summer of 2009, after an away goalless draw in Tiraspol, the Slavists were leading 1-0 in the second leg in Eden and were aiming for promotion, but Šeriff equalized in the set-up and, thanks to the then rule about goals on the field, knocked out the opponents of the Prague favorite.

“At that time, I was going to work. So I probably had a morning shift so that I could go to football in the afternoon. At that time, I worked at Xaverova as a youth coach. (Defender) Matej Krajčík got me tickets, otherwise I wouldn’t have gotten here,” Trpišovský said.

“I was sitting as a fan in the south stand where the goal was scored at the time, so I was disappointed. I had it first hand, I remember the last minute well. But otherwise I had nothing to do with it. We want to start a new era and remember Tiraspol is different,” added the Slavist coach.

His charges won 2-0 against Servette in Geneva 14 days ago and they can take a big step towards promotion with a possible win over Tiraspol. “We don’t look at it like that, we take each match separately. Now we have Tiraspol at home and regardless of the order of the matches, we want to give the best possible performance and win. We won’t look at how it will affect the table,” Trpišovský said .

The Moldovan sovereign, who were eliminated in the 3rd preliminary round of the Champions League with Pilsen last year after two 1:2 defeats, lost to AS Rome 1:2 at the start of the group. “It is a completely different team than the one that played with Pilsen last year. There is only one player left in the lineup – stopper Kiki. The team is supplemented by South Americans and other foreign players. From what I saw against AS Rome, I would definitely not say that Tiraspol is the outsider of the group. I liked it very much, it was a balanced match,” noted Trpišovský.

“They are very interesting with the ball. The players are on the move a lot, they believe in themselves, they are good at combining. At the tip, they have two typologically different strong strikers who can hold the ball and finish well. In addition, Talal is a strong playmaker. He is very technical and confident team. I think that in the upcoming matches they will convince that they are not an outsider,” added Trpišovský.

His charges struggled in the final stages in previous matches and scored only two goals from penalties in the last three rounds of the Czech league. On Sunday in Teplice, they drew 0:0 and came up empty-handed for the first time since March.

“We need to improve our play in the box, we need to be efficient. The match will be challenging, we will want maximum activity from the players, a lot of run-up, pressing and passing. The players will rotate, we will want to vary during the match, have other options. We are clear about the lineup. Some there are always minor changes and there will be tomorrow as well. Maybe also with regard to the latest performances or current form,” said Trpišovský.

Slavia Prague Advances to Final Play-off of European League after Draw with Dnipro

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com August 17, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The footballers of Slavia Prague drew 1:1 with Dnipro in its cup asylum in Košice in the away rematch of the 3rd preliminary round of the European League, and after the initial home victory 3:0, they advanced to the final play-off for participation in the group.

The Ukrainian national team sent Valentyn Rubchynskij into the lead at the end of the first half in the fight between the vice-champions of their countries, but in the 53rd minute Václav Jurečka equalized with his first goal of the season.

By progressing through Dnipro, Slávist got the certainty that they will play at least the group of the European Conference League. In the play-off against another Ukrainian team, Luhansk, they fight for participation in the main stage of the better European League.

Prague will start a doubleheader in a week, just like with Dnipro at home, the return match will be on the agenda in the opponent’s asylum in Lublin, Poland, on August 31.

The Red and Whites will not meet in the cup for the seventh time in a row, under current coach Jindřich Trpišovský they have always played in UEFA competitions in the fall. They last appeared in the main stage of the Europa League in the 2020/21 season.

Trpišovský made two forced changes in the lineup compared to the opening game in Eden. Stopper Ogbu, who was absent due to suspension in the first match, was replaced by Ousou, and Ševčík stepped in instead of the injured Lingro in the midfield.

In the packed Košice arena for almost six thousand spectators, the famous players had an almost home environment. In the cup asylum of Dnipro, which cannot play in its stadium due to the Russian military attack on Ukraine, over a thousand fans pushed the red and white forward.

In the beginning, the people of Prague controlled the progress and in the 23rd minute they had the first big chance. Jurečka, however, missed the goalie Kinarejkin and had to wait for his first goal of the season.

On the opposite side, four minutes later goalkeeper Kolář intervened against Pichaljonek. However, the Slavists were more active, but they did not take the lead even in the 35th minute, when after Ševčík’s tap, Van Buren’s volley attempt was saved by the home goalkeeper.

When it seemed that the red and whites would calmly finish the opening act to a goalless draw, in the first minute, Rubchynskij stretched the set-up from behind the goal and beat Kolar with a shot right at the back post. The Slavists conceded after two matches.

Less than four minutes after the change of sides, Pichaljonok could have made the double match even more dramatic, but Kolář held the guests back. Prague equalized in four minutes.

Jurečka was sent out by a vertical pass, which shot past Kinarejkin. The Spanish referees initially signaled offside, but after the intervention of the video referee, they finally recognized the goal. The top scorer of the last league season scored for the first time in this competitive year.

Zafeiris could turn the situation in favor of the favorite, but his shot against the post in the 62nd minute was deflected by the home goalkeeper. Substitute Douděra then fired a shot on the ground a short distance away. In the end, Hromada, a native of Košice, got on the pitch for the first time in the season and could even take care of a turnover in the set-up, but he ended up a short distance away from the home goal.

In the sixth competitive game of the season, the Slavists did not win for the first time, but it didn’t have to bother them too much. In the third double-header with a Ukrainian opponent in UEFA competitions, they celebrated promotion for the first time.

Rematch of the 3rd preliminary round of the European Football League in Košice:

SC Dnipro-1 – Slavia Prague 1:1 (1:0)
