These updates represent a crucial step in solidifying the Tonale’s position and attracting a wider customer base. The 2026 model will offer both internal combustion and plug-in hybrid powertrains, catering to diverse driving preferences, with sales expected to begin in the first quarter of 2026.
Powertrain Options
The 2026 Tonale will retain the existing 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, now producing 285 horsepower, an increase of 20 hp over the current model. This engine will be paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive.A new, more efficient version of the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system will also be available, combining the 1.3-liter engine with an electric motor for a total system output of 340 horsepower. The PHEV variant boasts an increased all-electric range of over 30 miles, up from the current model’s 20 miles.
Trim Levels
Alfa Romeo will streamline the Tonale’s trim structure for 2026, offering three distinct levels: Sprint, Ti, and Veloce.
* Sprint: The entry-level trim will include standard features such as a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
* Ti: Building upon the Sprint trim, the Ti adds premium interior appointments, including leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a premium sound system.
* Veloce: The top-tier Veloce trim focuses on performance and sporty aesthetics, featuring unique exterior styling cues, upgraded brakes, and a sport-tuned suspension.
Pricing
The 2026 Alfa romeo Tonale will start at $37,595 for the Sprint trim, representing a $1,500 increase over the 2025 model. The Ti trim will be priced at $42,995, while the Veloce trim will carry a starting price of $48,750. The plug-in hybrid variant will command a premium, starting at $52,595. These prices exclude destination charges and any optional equipment.
