US and UK Launch Joint Airstrikes on Yemen, Houthis Vow Retaliation

Sanaa: Joint attack by the United States and Britain on Yemen for the second day in a row. Attacks intensified in Yemen’s capital Sanaa and the coastal city of Hudaydah. The Houthis have repeatedly said they will retaliate against the attack. The US Navy has asked US-flagged ships to stay out of the Red Sea amid threats from the Houthis. But it is not clear if anyone was injured or killed in the attack. There are reports that only US planes attacked and US and UK planes attacked jointly. But Pentagon has stated that the attack was carried out and about 30 locations were targeted.

The United States and Britain bombed ten places like Hudaydah and Sana’a the other day. With this, West Asia is in a great fear of war. West Asia has become more turbulent with the US and British-led attack on Yemen’s Houthi strongholds. Most cargo ships stopped plying through the Red Sea after the Houthis warned that a strong retaliation was imminent.

The Houthis reiterated that the attack, which resulted in the death of five soldiers and the wounding of six others, was sure to result in heavy retaliation. The Houthis, who reiterated their support for the Palestinian people, accused the United States and Britain of only targeting Israel’s naval service.

But US President Joe Biden said he would not hesitate to launch further attacks to protect his own troops and international shipping. Biden added that the Houthis in Yemen are a terrorist organization.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said the attack was a limited and necessary act of self-defence. Joe Biden said that the Netherlands, Australia, Canada and Bahrain also provided assistance to the attack.

But Italy responded by rejecting the American request. After the attack in Yemen, oil prices rose by more than 4 percent. Iran’s seizure of an oil tanker on its way to Turkey near the coast of Oman on Thursday added to the tension. Oman condemns US-UK joint airstrikes in Yemen

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

United Nations Security Council (DK PBB) passed the resolution initiated United States of America about the militia attack Houthi Of wealth in the Red Sea, Wednesday (10/1).

The resolution urges the Houthis to immediately stop all attacks in the Red Sea targeting commercial vessels, especially those linked to Israel. This Houthi attack took place as an effort by the Houthis to defend Palestine which is currently facing brutal Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip.

“Attacks that impede global trade and undermine the rights and freedom of navigation as well as regional peace and security,” the resolution was quoted as saying AFP.

However, two permanent members of the UN Security Council, namely Russia and China, chose to abstain along with non-permanent members such as Mozambique and Algeria.

The four countries expressed concern that the Israel vs Hamas war would spread and trigger potential military attacks by Western countries against Houthi targets in Yemen, as quoted Al Jazeera.

The UN also has similar concerns. The spokesperson for the UN Secretary General admitted that he was worried that if there was a Western attack it could have a very bad impact on Yemen, which is currently still in decline due to the ongoing civil war.

The Houthis have recently been in the spotlight after attacking ships in the Red Sea since Zionist forces launched aggression against Palestine.

Before Israel’s aggression against Palestine, the Houthis often launched drones in the Red Sea.

After the aggression, they claimed to have helped Palestine by attacking ships affiliated with Israel and attacking the Zionist state.

Intensive attacks from the Houthis have forced shipping companies to change longer routes, causing costs to increase.

The Houthis’ actions worried Israel’s ally, the United States. They even formed a coalition to stand guard in the Red Sea to prevent attacks by this group.

A number of parties have warned of a wider escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict after many parties are involved.

Israel launched aggression on October 7. During their operations they attacked residents and civilian objects such as hospitals and refugee camps.

As a result of the Israeli attack, more than 23,000 people in Palestine died.

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

The team Israel launched an indiscriminate attack on Lebanon and killed the commander of the militia in the southern state, Hezbollah, on Monday (8/1).

Hezbollah confirmed that one of their commanders was killed as a result of the Israeli attack.

They identified the dead “commander” as Wissam Hassan Tawil.

Hezbollah also said Tawil was killed “on the road to Jerusalem.”

Regarding the attack, Lebanese security officials also spoke out.

“[Tawil] was killed in an Israeli attack that targeted his car in the south,” he said.

The official added that Tawil holds an important position in Hizbullh.

“He had a major role in organizing Hezbollah operations in the south,” the official said.

The attack on Tawil took place after a Hamas deputy leader was killed in Beirut last week.

A number of parties believe that the murder could trigger a wider escalation.

The murder of two leaders of the resistance group also occurred when Israel launched aggression against Palestine since October 7.

Since then, Israel has pounded Gaza hard. They also attacked residents and civilian objects such as hospitals and refugee camps.

To date, the death toll in Palestine due to Israeli attacks has reached more than 23,000 people.

At the beginning of the Israeli operation, Hezbollah also attacked the Zionist state. They claim they will help Hamas until Israeli troops stop aggression.

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

Capital IsraelTel Aviv, reportedly received bombardment of 20 missiles from resistance groups Hamas right on the new year celebration January 1, 2024.

Reported by local Israeli media outlets, of the 20 missiles fired towards Tel Aviv, 10 of them were successfully thwarted, reported via Al JazeeraMonday (1/1).

According to Al Jazeera’s report, the missiles fired from Gaza simultaneously were directed towards a number of cities in Israel. Sirens warning of passing rockets reportedly continued to sound over the cities of Tel Aviv, Gush Dan, and the surrounding Gaza area.

Apart from that, a rocket fragment was also found around the Kaplan Hospital, Rehovot. However, there were no casualties from the fall of the rocket.

Meanwhile, Israel’s indiscriminate aggression carried out in the Gaza Strip, Palestine for three months without stopping has recently been recorded as having destroyed around 70 percent of the houses in the besieged area.

According to a Wall Street Journal report as of Friday (30/12), around 300,000 of the 439,000 houses in Gaza have been destroyed as a result of Israeli attacks obtained through analysis of satellite imagery.

The report also added that 29,000 bombs were dropped in the region targeting residential areas, Byzantine-era churches, hospitals, shopping centers and all civil infrastructure. The building had been damaged beyond repair.

No further details were provided. But previous reports said more than 200 archaeological heritage sites were destroyed in Israeli bombings considered the most destructive in modern history.

Israel’s attacks are also thought to have caused more damage than any other city in the world than the destruction of Aleppo in Syria between 2012 and 2016, Mariupol in Ukraine, or the Allied bombing of Germany in World War II.

This Israeli attack has also killed more civilians than the United States-led coalition carried out in its three-year campaign against the Islamic State group.

“Now they are at the top of the list of the most devastating bombings ever,” said University of Chicago political scientist Robert Pape, to the Wall Street Journal, reported via Al Jazeera, Sunday (31/12).

Israel’s military aggression in Gaza, experts say, is also among the deadliest in history. This is because the aggression killed more than 21,500 people and injured 55,000 people. More than 1,000 children have had their limbs amputated in Israeli attacks since October 7.

The Israeli army claimed that it had targeted Hamas fighters, who carried out attacks on Israeli territory on October 7. About 1,200 people were killed in the attacks that sparked the current phase of the conflict.

However, experts criticized Israel for bombing the Gaza area, which is one of the most densely populated areas in the world housing 2.3 million people on 365 square kilometers of land.

On the other hand, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said there could be no peace until the Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, was destroyed. This statement was contained in Netanyahu’s opinion piece which was released Wall Street Journal on Monday (25/12) evening.

“Hamas must be destroyed, Gaza must be demilitarized, and Palestinian society must be deradicalized. These are the three prerequisites for peace between Israel and its Palestinian neighbors in Gaza,” Netanyahu said.

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

Representative United Arab Emirates held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Liberation Organization Palestine (Palestine Liberation Organization/PLO) in Abu Dhabi, Thursday (21/12).

According to reports Middle East EyeUAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan met PLO Secretary General Hussein Al Sheikh during Israel’s increasingly brutal aggression in Gaza.

They discussed the humanitarian situation in Gaza and efforts to ceasefire.

The meeting took place when the United Nations (UN) Security Council several times postponed voting on resolutions related to Gaza.

Diplomats familiar with the matter said an agreement was close to being reached on Thursday evening. However, it was delayed due to debate between UN Security Council members. They are scheduled to hold another vote today, Friday.

Members of the UN unit were close to reaching an agreement late Thursday, but the US was said to have objected.

An important point that has become an obstacle for the US is UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres’ proposal to establish a monitoring mechanism in Gaza.

“Exclusively monitors all humanitarian aid shipments to Gaza provided via land, sea and air [dari negara yang bukan pihak perang,” demikian usulan Guterres, dikutip Reuters.
