Podcast Recorded from Hospital Bed
Speaking from her hospital room during an episode of her podcast, *MeSsy*, Applegate detailed her plea to medical staff.
“I’m like, I wanna be admitted. I’m staying here because I want answers. I want every test that you can possibly think of or ones that you haven’t even thought of, and I want them done.”

Initially suspecting a burst appendix, a CT scan revealed the true nature of her ailment: a kidney infection that had spread to both sides.
Applegate described the agonizing pain, which radiated from her back to her front, prompting an emergency CT scan in the early hours of the morning.
Kidney infections can become serious if left untreated, potentially leading to sepsis, a life-threatening condition. In the United States, over a million people are hospitalized annually with sepsis, with kidney infections being a common source.
