Berlin – CDU Bundestag member Tilmanโ Kuban is facing investigation followingโ a criminal complaint filed by his wife, Dominique Emerich, amidst theirโข separation. Kuban has temporarily stepped down asโ spokesman and chairman of the European Union Affairsโ Working Group, with Roland Theis taking hisโ place.
The allegations stem from disputes relatedโค to the couple’s separation, details of wichโฃ remain undisclosed. Emerich confirmed the separation to Bild newspaper, stating, “It is true that โฃmy husband and I have been officially separated for several months. I don’t โwant to comment โon anything else.” Kuban โand Emerich married in September 2023.
In an โemail to his Union parliamentary group colleagues, Kuban stated he โ”vehemently” denies the accusations, adding they areโข occurring during “very contentious custody proceedings” involving their son. He emphasizedโ the importance of protecting privacy but pledged openness.
Kuban’s parliamentary immunity was lifted, a standardโ procedure that didโ not require a formal resolution from the Petitions Committee, as no member requested its preservation. The Union parliamentary group leadership stated the allegations are being taken “very seriously” but affirmed the presumption of innocence. They also confirmed Kuban’s โฃBundestag mandate is unaffected andโค exclusionโค fromโ the โgroup is notโ currently under consideration. Kuban was absent โคfrom lastโข week’s meetings due to sick leave.
Kuban โserved as the head of the CDU youth organization Junge union from 2019 to 2022 and was elected to the Bundestag in 2021.
