by Emma Walker – News Editor November 27, 2025

ICE Arrests Mother of Karoline Leavitt’s Nephew amidst Increased Deportation Efforts

Louisiana – The mother ‍of Karoline Leavitt’s nephew was recently arrested by Immigration and customs Enforcement ‌(ICE) just⁣ before Thanksgiving, prompting concern from her lawyer‌ and family. The ⁣woman, identified as Ferreira, is in ⁢the process of obtaining a green card and was taken into custody leaving her son without a⁣ mother.

“She’s in the process of actually getting ⁢her green card and she was abruptly arrested and taken from her young‌ child right before Thanksgiving,” her lawyer told WCVB. Ferreira’s son ⁤has not spoken to his mother since the arrest. The‍ lawyer added, “I’m just‍ trying to fight to get her out of jail. she should not be⁢ sitting⁢ in ⁣a jail hours away from her⁣ family and from ⁤her ‍child’s‌ life. She’s a great mom, and from what I heard, I think he’s been a pretty good dad.”

The arrest occurs as the Trump administration has intensified its immigration‍ enforcement policies, initiating a “mass deportation campaign” that includes encouraging “self-deportation” and increased law‍ enforcement operations by ICE, the Border Patrol, and the‍ National Guard across the United States. ‍

According to a GoFundMe campaign established by a relative, ‍Ferreira was brought to the US as a child in 1998 and has since maintained legal status through the⁢ Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, consistently fulfilling all requirements. “Since then, she has done everything in her power to build a stable, honest life here…She has ‍always strived to do the right thing,” the fundraiser states.

Ferreira’s son is the child⁣ of ‌Michael ‍Leavitt, Karoline Leavitt’s brother.in ⁢2014, Michael Leavitt won $1 million ⁣in a DraftKings daily fantasy football contest while engaged to Ferreira, and their son was eight months old. At the time, Ferreira‍ told the North Andover, Mass., Eagle-Tribune, ⁢”I need the lights fixed on the back of my car…And we need a ‍lamp for my son’s room. Other than‌ that we don’t really need much. We have our health. We have ⁢a nice condo. We really are blessed.”

Michael Leavitt has not responded to requests for comment. Her lawyer stated, “His mother is locked up in Louisiana, where she should have never been in the first place.”

Title: California Detention Center Faces Lawsuit Over Abusive Conditions

by Emma Walker – News Editor November 14, 2025

Lawsuit Details Disturbing Allegations of Abuse, Neglect at California Migrant Detention Centre

ADELANTO, Calif. – A lawsuit filed Tuesday alleges horrific conditions at the Adelanto ICE Processing Center in California, detailing‌ claims of systemic abuse, medical neglect, and unsanitary ‍living conditions endured by detainees. The civil rights lawsuit, brought⁢ by detainees and advocacy groups, paints a picture of a facility⁢ where individuals are subjected too prolonged solitary confinement, denied adequate medical care, and forced to live in overcrowded and filthy environments.

The Adelanto facility, reopened in 2023 by Immigration and Customs ‍Enforcement (ICE) after⁢ being shuttered in 2023, currently houses approximately 800 migrants with a capacity of ‍2,560 beds. The lawsuit arrives amid ⁣heightened‌ scrutiny of‌ ICE detention practices and the Trump administration’s intensified ⁤efforts to deport undocumented immigrants. The allegations raise serious questions about the‌ standards of care⁤ within ICE‍ detention centers and the⁣ potential for widespread human rights violations.

According⁣ to the complaint, detainees routinely face delays in receiving medical attention, including for⁣ serious conditions like broken bones and chronic illnesses. The lawsuit alleges instances of inadequate mental ‍health care, leading to self-harm and suicide attempts. Detainees also describe being subjected⁣ to⁤ verbal abuse by ⁤guards, denied access to basic necessities, and confined to unsanitary cells with limited access to hygiene products.

“The conditions at Adelanto are simply inhumane,” saeid a plaintiff in the⁣ lawsuit, identified only as “J.R.” in court documents.”We are treated like animals, denied basic dignity, and left to suffer in ⁣silence.”

The ⁤lawsuit further alleges that prolonged solitary confinement is used as a punitive ⁢measure,⁢ often without⁤ due process, and that detainees are⁣ routinely ‌denied⁤ adequate food and water.

Department of⁤ Homeland Security Spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin‌ denied the allegations, stating that ICE “has higher detention standards” than most prisons. “All detainees ⁤are provided with 3 meals a day, clean water, clothing, bedding, showers, and toiletries, ‌and have access to ⁢phones to communicate with their family‌ members and lawyers. Certified dieticians evaluate meals,” she said in a⁣ statement.

Attorneys representing the plaintiffs argue‌ that ICE’s standards are demonstrably inadequate ‌and fail to protect the health and safety of detainees. They are ⁢seeking a court order mandating improved conditions at the Adelanto facility and ⁤systemic‍ reforms to ICE detention practices. The case is ‌expected to draw ⁤national attention as it unfolds, possibly⁤ impacting the future of immigration detention in California and beyond.

Title: Chicago Mayor Slams Reporter for Using ‘Illegal Aliens’ Term

by Emma Walker – News Editor October 27, 2025

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson Clashes with reporter Over Use of ‘Illegal Aliens’

CHICAGO – Chicago Mayor⁤ Brandon Johnson engaged in a heated exchange with a⁤ reporter Tuesday after‌ objecting to⁢ the term “illegal aliens” during a press ⁤conference addressing recent arrests ⁣made ‌during a Department of ‌Homeland Security (DHS) operation. The‍ confrontation underscores the ongoing tensions surrounding immigration policy and terminology, particularly within sanctuary cities like Chicago.

The exchange occurred as the mayor was questioned about Operation Midway Blitz, a DHS initiative targeting criminal illegal⁤ aliens‌ in Illinois, launched last‍ month following the death of Katie Abraham, allegedly killed by an illegal immigrant driver. Johnson took issue with the reporter’s ‍phrasing, arguing it was dehumanizing and⁣ inaccurate.

“I think it’s vital that we use people’s humanity first and foremost,” Johnson stated, according to video of the ‌exchange. “I don’t think ‘illegal aliens’ is the appropriate terminology. We should be referring‌ to people as… individuals.”

The DHS launched Operation Midway blitz⁣ with the stated goal of “target[ing] ‌criminal illegal aliens terrorizing Americans in sanctuary Illinois.” last week, the⁤ operation resulted in ‌the arrest ‍of three illegal immigrants ‌and six U.S. citizens in the Chicago area, which DHS officials ⁢described as “one⁢ of ⁤the most violent days” of the⁣ operation.

The operation⁢ was initiated‍ in response⁤ to‌ the⁣ death of Katie Abraham, who was killed in a hit-and-run allegedly⁤ committed by Julio Cucul-Bol, an illegal ⁢immigrant from Guatemala.

Johnson has previously expressed skepticism about the effectiveness of increased law enforcement and incarceration, stating, “Jails and incarceration and law ‌enforcement is a sickness that has not ⁤led ‌to⁣ safe communities.”

The Chicago mayor’s office and Rep. Pramila Jayapal did‍ not immediately respond to Fox ‌News Digital’s request for comment.

DHS Responds to Zach Bryan Song with Recruitment Video

by Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor October 9, 2025
written by Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) featured singer Zach⁣ Bryan‘s song “Something in⁢ the Orange” ⁢in a recruitment ⁤video,⁣ a move ⁤that comes after⁤ the agency faced ‍criticism‌ for ⁤using Bryan’s music at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility. The video, posted to⁣ X (formerly Twitter) on August 22,2024,aims to attract potential recruits ⁢to ‍DHS careers.

The use of Bryan’s ‌music by DHS highlights the complex‍ relationship between artists and government agencies,‍ particularly ⁣regarding immigration enforcement. Bryan ⁣publicly voiced his disapproval when learning ICE played his music at the Delaney Hall Detention Facility in Newark, New Jersey,‌ earlier this year, stating ‌his‌ music was not intended to be associated with the ⁤agency’s policies. This⁣ latest ⁣growth raises questions about the‌ agency’s sensitivity to artist preferences and its strategy for public image management.

According to a Fox ⁢News Digital report, DHS⁣ utilized the song as background music in a video showcasing various career paths within the ⁤department, including roles with the Coast Guard, TSA, and Border Patrol. ‍The video’s caption reads,‌ “Find your purpose. ‌Find your people.Find your future. Join the‍ DHS team!”

bryan’s⁤ management did not ⁢respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital⁣ regarding the DHS recruitment video.

The initial controversy stemmed from a June⁢ 13,2024,protest at the Delaney Hall facility, where attendees⁣ alleged ICE‌ officials‍ were playing Bryan’s music during the demonstration against federal immigration enforcement raids. Bryan ⁣addressed the ⁣situation on social media, stating, “I don’t support what ICE is doing and I never have.” ‌He added that his team was working to ‍prevent ‌his music from being played at ICE facilities in the future.

Cubana Deported After 23 Years: ICE’s Dehumanizing System

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com September 28, 2025
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Cuban Woman Speaks Out ⁢After ‍HusbandS Deportation, Criticizes ICE System

A Cuban ‌woman‍ is sharing‍ her story after her husband of ⁤23 years⁣ was recently deported ‌to Mexico, despite having no criminal record. While acknowledging teh pain of separation, she expressed relief at his removal from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention centers, ‌stating, ”Maybe some⁤ do‍ not understand why I feel ‍relieved, even⁤ happy,⁣ that they⁢ have deported it. ‌but in those ICE centers⁣ the life of the detainees is in danger. It is better that it is outside.”

Her husband arrived in the United States by raft and was ⁤initially intercepted by authorities, triggering a⁤ deportation process that remained active for over two decades. Despite building a life in the US, he ultimately faced a‌ final deportation order that was never overturned.

The ‌woman’s experience has led her to publicly denounce what she describes as an opaque and dehumanizing⁢ immigration ⁣system. ⁣She alleges ICE frequently transfers‌ detainees between ⁢facilities without⁣ informing their families, ⁢and that the system for tracking detainee‌ locations is unreliable. She further claims⁢ immigrants are treated⁤ “as if they were objects” and that there is a ‌concerning lack of openness‍ regarding the health and well-being of those in custody.

“In her testimony, Cuban insists that‌ the situation she lived is ⁣not‌ an isolated case,” the report states.

Despite the hardship, the woman remains hopeful for a reunion with her husband‍ in Mexico, and⁤ is committed‍ to raising awareness about the struggles faced by other families in similar situations. She plans to ⁢continue using social media to highlight what she ⁣calls “the‍ martyrdom⁢ of thousands of families.”

Growing Concerns⁢ over Deportations of Cuban Immigrants

The⁢ case highlights⁣ a broader trend of ⁣increased ICE raids and deportations, even impacting ‌immigrants with ⁣ongoing ‍legal processes ⁣or temporary permits like the I-220A.‌ This shift in policy has created a‌ climate of fear and uncertainty within the Cuban immigrant community.

Key Issues Facing Immigrants ‌in ICE⁤ Custody:

* Deplorable Conditions: ⁣Reports ⁢indicate inadequate access to medical care and unexplained transfers of detainees.
* Lack of Transparency: ‌Families often struggle to locate loved ones⁣ within the ICE system.
*‍ Dehumanizing Treatment: ⁤Concerns have been raised about the way detainees are treated.

Resources for Immigrants Facing ⁢Deportation:

Immigrants⁣ at risk of deportation are advised ⁤to seek legal counsel to explore options for appealing decisions or requesting hearings. However, ⁢navigating ⁢the legal process can be complex and vulnerable⁣ to scams, emphasizing the ‍importance of⁤ reliable legal advice.

the Human Cost of family Separation:

Deportation and subsequent family separation have a profound emotional impact, causing critically ⁢importent anguish and despair ‌for those left behind in the United ⁢States. This situation underscores the human⁤ consequences of current immigration policies.
