George clooney Finds Humor in Louvre Heist, Recalls ‘Ocean’s‘ Role
PARIS – Hollywood star George Clooney reacted with amusement to the recent brazen robbery at the Louvre Museum in Paris, drawing parallels to his own on-screen persona as a master thief in the “Ocean’s” film franchise. The actor, 64, acknowledged the seriousness of the theft – valued at approximately €88 million – but couldn’t resist a wry observation about the perpetrators’ audacity.
Clooney, who famously portrayed Danny Ocean in three prosperous heist films, told Variety magazine, “I mean, it’s terrible. But when you’re a professional thief like me… I was very proud of these guys.” The incident has sparked comparisons to the elaborate schemes depicted in the “ocean’s” movies, a connection Clooney himself acknowledged with a laugh.
The Louvre robbery, which occurred Sunday morning, October 27, 2025, involved four individuals who stole jewelry and jewels using a freight elevator and escaping on scooters.Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the crime. Clooney noted the thieves’ boldness, adding, “It’s pretty funny because it really happened in broad daylight, with all the tourists there, you no.”
The actor’s comments come as a new installment in the “Ocean’s” series, “Ocean’s 14,” is in development, with a script already completed. Clooney starred alongside Brad Pitt,Matt damon, and Julia Roberts in the original trilogy, which centered on meticulously planned casino and museum heists. While his fictional targets were casinos and, in “Ocean’s 12,” a museum in Rome, clooney’s on-screen expertise clearly informed his reaction to the real-life Louvre break-in.
