Omoda Jaecoo Unveils O4 SUV, targeting โฃYoung Global Market with Bold Design & Diverse Powertrain Options
Wuhu, China – โOmoda Jaecoo has officially revealed its โnew SUV, the O4, a model positioned toโ appeal to โa younger demographic with its aggressive styling and plannedโ availabilityโฃ of multiple powertrain options. The O4, wich replaces the previously designated “Omoda 3,” boasts โคaโ longer wheelbase andโ a name change driven โby internal feedbackโข suggesting “4” better represented theโ vehicle’s character.
The decision โคto rebrand from “3”โ to “4”โข stemmed from discussions with colleagues and industry insiders. “When we discussed it with friends and colleagues, 3โ didn’t seem to adequately describe this car. 4 was better and we โalso wanted to have something like 3+1 and โbe more โฃcreative with โour consumers,”โ explained Omoda & Jaecoo International CEO Shawn Xu duringโ the Omoda 4 global Preview. “After โฃgetting โthat โฃmessage, weโฃ felt 4โ was more suitable to describe this SUV.”
Production of the Omoda O4 is slated to begin next year, withโข the vehicle offered globally with โคa range of engine choices โขincluding internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid, โplug-in hybrid, and full electric options – leveraging Omoda Jaecoo’s complete powertrain technology.
The O4’sโฃ exterior design features narrowed, lightning-inspired headlightsโฃ and an overall more aggressive aesthetic. Inside, designers drew inspirationโข from spaceships, culminating โคin a unique design element: aโ red flap โthat must be liftedโ to activate the engine start/stop button, reminiscent of the Lamborghini Urus. A large โฃcentralโ touchscreen dominates the โinterior, alongside retained physical โคbuttons for key settings.
shawnโ Xu confirmed the company isโ consideringโ bringing the Omoda O4 to Indonesia as early as next year. “Of course (entering Indonesia), if you like,” โhe stated.
