A dominant⁣ performance by Sacred Heart-Griffin and another explosive night from Rushville-Industry‘s Rylan Reimolds highlighted Week 3 of Illinois High School Association (IHSA) football action around Springfield. The Cyclones’ potent rushing attack and Reimolds’ consistent 200-plus yard games are establishing both teams as early-season contenders in their respective conferences. ⁢These results shape the landscape of the Central State Eight, Sangamo, south Central, and other area matchups as‌ teams head into the next phase of the season.

Ashland Defeats Lexington in High-Scoring Soccer Match, Securing First Win at Lexington Since 2011

LEXINGTON, OH – Ashland High School’s boys soccer team earned a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Lexington on Tuesday night, marking their first win on Lexington’s home field since 2011.The Arrows overcame two separate two-goal deficits, ultimately securing the win with a late goal and strong goalkeeping performance.

The victory is a notable early-season boost for Ashland, demonstrating resilience and offensive firepower. For Lexington, the loss provides valuable lessons as a young team navigates a challenging schedule.The match highlighted the growing competition within the area’s soccer landscape and sets the stage for continued rivalry between the two schools.

Lexington battled back from being down two goals twice in the match. Lane Weber scored with 1:11 remaining, turning on a defender and blasting a shot past Ashland goalkeeper Justin Pancake.However, Ashland had previously built a lead through a penalty kick and a goal from within the six-yard box.

“Pancake is Pancake,” Ashland coach Hosler said. “He’s a senior, starter for three years, it’s just what he does. He knows his box, he knows his area well, and he’s going to come up big.” Hosler acknowledged Pancake conceded on the penalty and the close-range goal, but praised his overall performance throughout the game.

Despite the loss, Lexington coach Them was pleased with his team’s response. “I thought we figured out who we are a little bit,” Them said.”We’re young around the edges, a lot of inexperience, and some of these boys haven’t played in a game with this intensity. I think we learned a lot tonight. Can we grow from this? Did we get better tonight? I think we did … but every game means something,so we got to fight every night.”

SACRAMENTO,Calif.- increasing breezes ‍Monday foreshadow a cooler week and the potential for regional showers as a storm system approaches the West Coast.

Winds will become more noticeable throughout ‌the day, ‌with valley temperatures expected to ⁢reach ⁢around 83 degrees. ⁢Foothill highs will be in the low 80s with lighter winds, while the ⁣Sierra Nevada will experience the strongest breezes, peaking⁤ near 70 degrees.

The strengthening‍ winds are a result⁤ of a trough of low pressure moving toward ‍the California coast. While the initial front is forecast to pass early Tuesday morning, ⁢the low-pressure system is expected ⁢to stall over the⁣ state. This positioning raises the possibility‍ of post-frontal convection, bringing showers and isolated thunderstorms to the region from Tuesday⁢ through Thursday.

The Sierra Nevada is anticipated to receive ⁤the most significant ⁢stormy activity, with a chance of showers extending into the foothills. Valley rain is less certain, though a stray shower ‍cannot be ruled out. ‌

Martin County High School⁣ Pool Reopens After Year-Long⁣ Repairs

Stuart, FL ‌ – The Martin County High School swimming pool is now open following a year of extensive repairs, though access is proving⁣ contentious for some long-time ⁤users. The pool officially reopened to ⁢the public on Sept. 3, according⁣ to School District Communications⁣ director, sid lowe.

The year-long closure and‍ subsequent requirement⁣ of usage agreements have sparked debate among swimmers who have ‍historically used the pool for recreation and exercise.While the school district maintains agreements ⁤were always necessary, some users claim the new stipulations are unfairly limiting access. The poolS future was once in ‍question, with the⁤ district considering closure in 2018 due ⁤to⁣ high operating costs, but a strong community response⁢ saved it.

Lowe stated that as of Sept. 3, no one had yet filed to use the pool under the new agreement system. The repairs addressed ‌ongoing maintenance issues,but user Dick Landrum expressed‌ frustration ⁤with ⁣the timeline,stating,”It took them a ‌year ⁢to do three ⁢weeks of maintenance.”

Landrum, a pool user as 1986, noted that historically, individuals haven’t needed formal agreements ⁣to utilize the pool, except for those hosting parties or events. He argues‍ the ‍current system is “shutting out” regular users. Lowe, though, maintains the agreements have always been‌ a requirement.

The School Board ultimately voted to keep the pool‍ open in response⁤ to opposition from the swimming⁢ community,recognizing its value as a recreational resource.
