Uzès, France – An American woman credits ChatGPT with leading her to a dramatically improved life after the AI suggested she relocate to a small town in the south of France. Julie Neis, formerly experiencing burnout in the United States and dissatisfied with the pace of life in Paris, turned to the artificial intelligence platform for help in choosing a new home.
Neis, who studied French in school, asked ChatGPT to identify potential locations for a fresh start elsewhere in France. The AI recommended Sarlat-la-Canéda in the Dordogne and Uzès in the Gard. She ultimately chose Uzès, where she has lived since March, and now describes the decision as “very judicious.”
“I feel like this little town is where I need to be, whether for now, for a few years or maybe forever,” Neis told CNN. She highlights the town’s pleasant climate, small size, and welcoming community as key factors in her newfound happiness.
The story underscores a growing trend of individuals utilizing AI tools for meaningful life decisions, despite inherent risks. Neis, who documents her experiences on her YouTube channel, French Julie Travels, says she is “so much happier now” and feels “so lucky to be here and living this new life.” She admitted to American media, “I can’t always believe that I live here.”
