Samsung Pauses Android 16 Rollout for Galaxy S24, S23, and select S22 Models
Samsung has temporarily halted the distribution of its Android 16 upgrade for the Galaxy S24 series in Korea, extending a previously reported withdrawal affecting other devices. While the update remains available for Galaxy S24 users in Europe, the company has also pulled the software for additional models, including portions of the Galaxy S23 line and, beyond the S22 ultra, further S22 variants.
The recall follows a similar pattern observed last week with the Galaxy S22, were the update was initially released than paused due to reported issues.Users who have already installed the android 16 upgrade are advised that their devices will continue to function normally. However, those who have not yet received or installed the update will be unable to do so until Samsung re-releases it, possibly in a revised version. Samsung appears to be prioritizing a stable user experience, indicating progress of an improved software build specifically for the S22 Ultra, and potentially for other affected devices.
Currently, the Galaxy S22 and S22+ updates have been re-released without changes, but the S22 Ultra remains unavailable. Details regarding the Galaxy S23 series are still emerging, and Samsung has not yet provided a timeline for the re-release of the Android 16 update for any of the affected models. Samsung is asking users with Galaxy S23 devices running Android 16 to report any bugs or issues they are experiencing.
