Inside Florida Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky’s postgame wine raffles

Panthers Goalie sergei Bobrovsky ⁤Celebrates Wins with Teammate Wine Raffles

SUNRISE, ‌FL – Florida panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky ‍has cultivated‌ a unique ⁣postgame ⁤tradition: a raffle awarding a ‌bottle of wine to a teammate following each of ‍his victories. Teh practice, a⁢ gesture of‌ appreciation for the⁣ team’s collective effort, ‌has become a popular ritual within the‌ Panthers’ locker room as the team enjoys sustained success.

bobrovsky, a 16-year NHL veteran, began⁣ his career with the Philadelphia Flyers before a trade sent him to the Columbus Blue Jackets, where he earned two Vezina‍ Trophies as the league’s top goaltender. He joined the Panthers in ‌2019, ⁢signing a seven-year, ⁢$70 million contract. While his initial seasons in Florida brought mixed ⁤results – ‍including just one shutout in ‌his ⁢first two‍ years and a⁢ career-worst 3.23 ‌goals-against average in his debut campaign – Bobrovsky found his⁣ stride in the 2022-23 playoffs.

Initially not the Game 1 starter ⁣against the Boston Bruins, Bobrovsky took over for Alex Lyon during the ⁣series, ultimately leading the Panthers to an upset ⁣victory and a surprising run⁤ to the Stanley Cup Final, ‍where they ‍lost to the Vegas⁢ Golden Knights in five games.

“We have a great group of guys,” ‌Bobrovsky ⁢said. “We’ve got‍ great, solid management, ⁢great ‍coaches, great staff. It’s exciting to be part of this team. I appreciate this prospect to be the goalie for this organization, and I’m blessed.”

Bobrovsky’s recent performance ‍has been particularly strong, recording five shutouts in ⁤his past six playoff series. His generosity and humility have resonated ‍with teammates.

“He’s been unbelievable, ⁤and we don’t have our success⁢ without him,” said ‌Panthers forward Carter Verhaeghe, a past raffle winner. “he’s such‍ a good guy.If you’re lucky to talk to him, he’s a really, really fun guy to be around.”

Forward Jonah Gadjovich added,”He loves to give back. he’s a very generous guy,and I think‌ he just has⁢ some fun with it,too.”

Some players, like defenseman Gustav Schmidt, who has won ‌the raffle twice, have enjoyed ⁤thier winnings, but are preserving at ⁣least one bottle. “I’ll never drink it,” Schmidt said.

The tradition excludes⁣ the coaching staff, a decision understood by Head Coach⁢ Paul Maurice. “The players do ‘all the hard things,’ such as blocking shots and defending to help preserve Bobrovsky’s shutout bids,” Maurice explained. “It’s a smart thing to do. And it’s a kind‍ thing‌ to do.” He jokingly added, ‍”(He) could expand it every once in a while. I’m just saying.”

Marchand’s Emotional Return to Bruins Ice and Olympic Dreams

by David Harrison – Chief Editor October 22, 2025
written by David Harrison – Chief Editor

Emotional Return to ⁢Boston for Brad Marchand as He Embraces‍ New⁤ Role with ‌Panthers

Brad Marchand experienced a deeply ‌emotional return to Boston’s TD Garden on Tuesday, ‌receiving a video ‌tribute ‌and standing ovation from⁢ the Bruins faithful – a gesture that‌ brought‌ the‍ two-time Stanley Cup champion to tears. ⁣Marchand,⁢ now a member of the Florida⁢ Panthers, admitted he “just ‍couldn’t hold it in,” overwhelmed by the‌ memories and pride associated with ⁢his 14 years with the ‍Bruins institution.

“Brings‌ everything back, ⁣and the amount ⁣of pride that ⁤I had – ⁣that I have – that I played here and in this organization, I just couldn’t ⁢hold it in,”⁢ Marchand said, visibly moved ‌by the ‌reception.

While Marchand secured his second Stanley‌ Cup championship with the Panthers this year, his first came with the Bruins in 2011.That victory, achieved at age 23, marked a pivotal moment ⁣in a ⁤career trajectory now ⁤likely destined for the Hockey Hall of Fame. He reflected ‍on the unexpected path to success, recalling a rocky ‍start.

“The craziest thing is ⁤how I ⁣got there,” Marchand stated, noting he initially⁣ played only 20⁤ games and‌ struggled to find consistent scoring. “Once ⁣I ⁢had my first stint…it was looking like a pretty⁤ slim ‌chance I would be a ‌top-line guy here in this⁢ league. I think we all kind of thought maybe it would be fourth line and hopefully move up from⁤ there. It was⁢ a great wake-up call that it’s a very difficult league to be in and have success in.”

Following his trade to Florida on March 7th, Marchand initially⁣ found a role on the Panthers’⁢ third line, providing⁤ support to key⁣ players like‍ Aleksander Barkov, Matthew Tkachuk, Sam Bennett, and sam Reinhart. Though, circumstances‍ have⁣ shifted‌ dramatically. Barkov is possibly out for the season⁣ with a knee injury, and⁤ Tkachuk’s⁤ debut is delayed untill potentially 2026 due to offseason surgery ⁣for ⁤a sports ‍hernia and torn⁤ adductor ‌muscle. This has thrust Marchand into ⁣a central⁣ role for the Panthers.

Beyond‌ team success, Marchand is also motivated by the opportunity⁣ to represent Canada at the 2026 Winter⁣ Olympics ‌- a dream he’s held for 12 years. He was disappointed when the NHL ‍withdrew from the 2022 Beijing Olympics due to COVID-19 concerns, fearing ‌it was his last chance. His performance in last year’s 4 ⁣Nations Face-Off, where ⁣he helped Canada to victory, and ‌his recent Stanley Cup ⁣win have substantially strengthened ‌his case for selection.

“I think about it. I’ve thought about it for 12 years now,”‌ Marchand said.”It’s been one of the driving factors of my training and push to play ‍to ⁢try to make it to this point.” ‌He‍ emphasized the importance of consistent performance: “To focus on that is more just preparing and making‍ sure you’re focused ‌on each ‌and every game and day and ‌doing the⁢ things you ⁤have‍ to do to ⁣have success.”

marchand believes the Panthers provide the ideal environment for him to continue pursuing these goals,⁤ even amidst key player absences. He acknowledged the natural ⁤progression of teams and players, stating, “It⁤ was great to be able to⁤ spend some time here…But it is indeed absolutely an opportunity to turn the ‍page for everybody. For them.‍ For us. They’re ⁣onto new things. They’ve got to move on as well. It’s not just me.” He expressed⁢ gratitude for his time with the Bruins, adding, “It was an‌ incredible⁤ way to do that. I’m ⁤grateful for the‍ Bruins and what they did tonight.”

Simultaneously occurring, the Bruins are navigating a challenging period, currently on a five-game losing streak and searching for the‌ identity they lost during Marchand’s final season with the team. Marchand currently has 988 career points, approaching a significant milestone of 1,000.

NHL weekend rankings: 5 surprising early stories I’m not buying quite yet

Flames Fall From Grace: Early Season Struggles Raise⁤ Doubts Despite Recent Promise

Calgary, AB – Just weeks after securing thier young star goaltender with a meaningful contract extension, the Calgary Flames are⁣ facing a stark reality: a dismal 1-5-0⁤ start to the season has cast serious doubt on their playoff aspirations. Despite a strong 96-point performance last year that narrowly missed‍ the postseason, the Flames have been largely overlooked as ‍contenders this season, with only 11% of The athletic’s staff predicting a playoff berth – less than half the support⁤ given to the 80-point ‍Anaheim Ducks. Now, six games in, those‌ doubts appear increasingly⁢ justified.

The Flames’ struggles are multifaceted. They are currently ⁤last in‌ the league in goals scored‌ and ‌are battling⁢ to keep the puck out of their own ‌net. Their ⁣lone win came via shootout on opening night, raising concerns about their ability to consistently compete. While it’s early ⁤in the season, the team is already facing a ⁤significant uphill battle.

A major source of concern ⁢is the‍ performance of Dustin Wolf, who last season emerged as a potential star in goal as a 23-year-old rookie, finishing ⁣second in Calder Trophy voting and even receiving⁣ Hart‌ Trophy consideration. ⁢That impressive showing led to a new contract⁣ for Wolf and, indirectly,⁤ an extension for his coach, Ryan ⁤Huska. ⁢However, through five games, Wolf’s statistics have been markedly poor, resembling numbers from the mid-1980s. While⁤ a small sample size prevents definitive conclusions, the Flames’ current form ⁤suggests they can ill afford a ⁣prolonged slump from ‌their projected franchise goaltender.

There is a glimmer of hope on the horizon with⁣ the return of Jonathan Huberdeau, who made ‌his season debut Saturday after being sidelined by a preseason‍ injury. While Huberdeau’s contract has been a point of contention,he remains a capable playmaker⁢ with a floor⁤ of approximately 50 points,a boost desperately needed for a team struggling to find the back of the net.

Despite the return of Huberdeau, the Flames’ schedule doesn’t offer⁤ immediate relief. They face the Winnipeg⁤ Jets twice this week, with⁣ a game against the Montreal canadiens sandwiched in between. While acknowledging it’s too early to draw firm conclusions, analysts suggest the team is rapidly‌ approaching a critical juncture.

The flames were previously ranked⁤ 31st by ‍ The Other Rankings, and while a ⁤bottom-five ⁣placement is being held off for now, the current⁣ trajectory suggests‍ a significant drop is likely⁣ if the team doesn’t quickly address its offensive and defensive⁤ woes. The early season‍ has quickly transformed from a potential “everybody ⁣gave up on⁢ us” redemption story into a potential crisis for a team⁣ that‍ just last year showed considerable promise.

The unique design reflects the Panthers’ recent success and the enthusiastic ⁤support of their fans. The⁤ team secured back-to-back Stanley ⁢Cup championships, defeating opponents in the 2024 and 2025 finals. The⁤ rings themselves boast over 450 diamonds and genuine rubies, totaling 16.15 carats of gemstones,‍ alongside diamond-encrusted palm trees representing the team’s Florida home.
