Fenerbahce Star Szymanski‘sโ Transfer โคCollapsed After Mourinho Arrival, Agent Reveals
ISTANBUL – โค A potential transfer for Fenerbahce midfielder Sebastian Szymanski fell through at โthe last minute due to the arrival โฃof new manager Jose Mourinho, according to the player’s agent, Mariusz Piekarski. the revelation comes after fenerbahce’s 3-1 loss to dinamo Zagreb in the opening match of the UEFA โEuropa League league stage, where โฃSzymanskiโ scored their only goal.
Piekarski, speaking to Kanal Sportowy,โค stated that a “very good club” from one of โEurope’s topโค five leaguesโฃ made an offer for Szymanski, but fenerbahce promptly rejected it, โdeclaring the player was notโฃ for sale.
“The offer came fromโ a โvery good clubโข playing inโ oneโข of the top โ5โ leagues in Europe. However, this offer was rejected immediately. Fenerbahce โreported that Szymanski is โขnot for sale and โฃtherefore the negotiations didโ not need to last more,” Piekarski explained.
Further complicating matters,โฃ a subsequent potential move to a British club competing in the Champions League was also โขabandoned following Mourinho’s appointment. Piekarski indicated that โMourinho considered Szymanski a key part of hisโค plans.
“Before the Fenerbahce-Feyenoord match, the club told me, ‘Sebastian, Jose Mourinho is a very critically important player. Millions of euros would not be sold even if Iโ heard โthe words,'” โฃPiekarskiโ said. “After Mourinho leavingโข the transfer window in Europe was only 3 daysโ more open. We talkedโข toโข a โฃBritish club participating in the Champions League, but โthe transferโฃ was to cancel the decision we wanted.”
Piekarski โขconcluded that Szymanski ultimately becameโค “a victim of his own success,” โas โmourinho’s high regardโ for the player effectively ended any chance of a transfer.
