Bronx Fire Sends Several to Hospital, Impacts Multiple Homes
A devastating fire in Kingsbridge Heights, Bronx, has left several families displaced and multiple individuals injured, including first responders. The blaze, which erupted Sunday evening, prompted a swift response from emergency services, but the extent of the damage is considerable.
Injuries Reported
Pierina Sanchez, a Bronx Council Member, reported that four individuals sustained injuries in the incident. Among those hurt were three firefighters, one of whom was in critical condition as of Sunday night. An EMS worker was also among the injured. The fire impacted three single-family homes, affecting approximately a dozen residents.
EMS personnel evaluated impacted residents, with some being transported to the hospital. The American Red Cross is assisting affected residents, providing support and guidance.
Witness Accounts
The FDNY responded to the fire shortly before 7:30 p.m. on the first floor of a home on Devoe Terrace and West 190th Street. A News 12 crew observed at least three residential properties engulfed in flames as dozens of first responders battled the blaze. Helicopters and drones from the NYPD flew overhead as heavy smoke filled the street.
“Someone saying, ‘Fire! Fire!,’” Jose Martinez said. “When we came out, everything was already on fire, big fire. It looked like a movie.”

Fire’s Origin Under Investigation
As of Sunday night, the cause of the fire remained undetermined. According to the National Fire Protection Association, home fires cause thousands of injuries and deaths annually, causing billions of dollars in property damage (NFPA).
