Rhode โIsland Faces โUC Davis in Pivotal FCS Playoff matchup
KINGSTON, R.I. – โThe Rhode Island Rams travel to face the UC โฃDavis Aggies on โSaturday night wiht a chance โto reachโข the final eight โคof the FCS Playoffsโค and โฃsolidify their status as a rising power in the Coastalโฃ Athletic Association (CAA). The Rams have secured back-to-back leagueโข titles and playoff appearances as the CAA undergoes significant conference realignment.
UC Davis โenters the contest with โan 8-3 record from the Big Sky Conference, โขdespiteโค battling injuries. Freshman quarterback Caden pinnick hasโข led the Aggies’ offense, while their defense โขhas proven strong against the run. UCโฃ Davisโ has only lost once at home this season โand benefitted fromโ anโฃ extra week of planning.
Rhode Island, led by 12th-year head coach Jim Fleming, achievedโ an 8-0 conference recordโค this season – their first since Fleming’s arrival. Quarterback Devin โFarrell ranks โฃsecond โคin โthe FCS with 3,451 passing yards, connecting frequently with receiver Marquis Buchanan, who โleads the nation with 1,224 receiving yards.
The Rams โalso boast a formidable linebacking corps featuring A.J.โ Pena, Moses Meus,โ and โRohan Davy. Meus and Davy have combined for 199 tackles, while Pena has recorded โฃten sacks and 19 tackles for loss. UC Davis will be without defensive back Rex Connors.
