Lincoln Cityโค Supporters Heavily boo โChelsea‘s Alejandro Garnacho During Carabao Cup Match
Lincoln Cityโข fans relentlessly booed Chelsea winger Alejandro โขGarnacho throughout the first half โขof their Carabao Cup โฃthird-round clash โขon Wednesday. The League One side’s vocal opposition targeted Garnacho every time he touched the ball, accompanied by accusations of divingโค when he went to ground.
Chelsea, managedโ by Enzo maresca,โค entered the match at the LNER Stadium seeking to rebound from a โฃthree-game winless streak. However, Lincoln โคtookโค the led in the 42nd minute with a goal from striker Rob โStreet.
Maresca fielded a rotated squad, giving starts to players including Tyrique George, Facundo Buonanotte, and andreyโ Santos. Garnacho, who recently completed a ยฃ40 million transfer from Manchester United, made his full Chelsea debut after previous substitute appearances against Brentford and Bayern Munich.
The moveโข to Chelsea followed a reported conversation with Manchester United manager โRuben Amorim, who advised Garnacho to seek a new club. Following united’s Europa Leagueโ final loss to Spurs, Garnacho reportedly described his former team’sโ seasonโ as “s**t,” with the Daily โฃmail reporting concerns regarding his attitude and social media usage. โฃ
Garnacho previously facedโ similarโค hostility during chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to amorim’s Manchester united on Saturday, receiving boos and an X-rated chant.
“Lincoln fans really not taking to Alejandro Garnacho. โคAt all. Every time he receives the ball he is booed, and every time he is fouled there are loud claims he has dived,” reported Dom Smith of โขthe Londonโค Evening Standard โ on X (formerly Twitter).
Fans on social media reactedโ to the treatment of Garnacho, with one writng, “Lincoln fans are clearly trying to rattle Garnacho tonight. Good test of his mental strength I guess.” Another commented, “Garnacho getting the rough treatment from the lincoln players and their fans โtonight,” whileโค a third stated, “Lincoln are kicking lumps out of Garnacho.”
