The Baseball Hall of Fame will welcome five new inductees in 2025, with the Class of 2025 announced today. Among the honorees are former MLB stars ichiro Suzuki, CC Sabathia, and Billy Wagner, alongside posthumous selections Dave Parker and Dick Allen.
Suzuki, the 2001 American League MVP and holder of the single-season hits record, joins Sabathia, the 2007 AL Cy Young Award winner and a member of the 3,000-strikeout club, and seven-time All-Star closer Billy Wagner in this year’s class.
The Classic Baseball Era Committee elected Dave Parker and Dick allen, both of whom will be enshrined posthumously. Parker, who passed away last month, was the 1978 National League MVP, a two-time batting champion, and a two-time World Series winner with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Oakland Athletics. Allen, who died in 2020, was the 1972 American League MVP and a seven-time All-Star. his career OPS of .951 ranks sixth all-time for players in the Integration Era with at least 5,000 plate appearances,trailing only Ted Williams,Barry Bonds,Mike Trout,Mark McGwire,and Mickey Mantle.
Sabathia’s cooperstown Cap Decided
CC Sabathia will be inducted into the Hall of Fame representing the New York Yankees, marking the 22nd Yankee to receive this honor. Sabathia played 11 seasons with the Yankees, compared to 7.5 seasons with the Cleveland franchise. His sole World Series championship came during his tenure in the Bronx, where he also finished in the top five of Cy Young Award voting in each of his first three seasons.
The team affiliations for Ichiro Suzuki and Billy Wagner were straightforward,as both players are most prominently associated with the Seattle Mariners and the Houston Astros,respectively. Dave Parker will be honored as a Pittsburgh Pirate, while Dick Allen will be enshrined as a Philadelphia Phillie.
