Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto kalah dari Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in the first round China Open 2023 at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium, Changzhou, Tuesday (5/9) afternoon.

Fajar/Rian started the match against Astrup/Rasmussen with an advantage. After the 5-2 score, Fajar/Rian’s point gain faltered. Astrup/Rasmussen took the lead.

Having equalized at 7-7, the world number one pair continues to be left behind. Fajar/Rian trailed 9-11 in the first game interval.

Astrup/Rasmussen presented a game that made Fajar/Rian uncomfortable. The Danish pair’s quick attack made it difficult for Fajar/Rian to return the ball. Fajar/Rian also used another strategy to cut the distance.

From being left behind 12-16, Fajar/Rian could then get closer to 15-16. Astrup/Rasmussen’s defense was pretty good, making Fajar/Rian need more than two or three smashes to get points.

Fajar/Rian’s struggle made the score draw 18-18. At critical points Fajar/Rian’s mistakes and Astrup/Rasmussen’s attacks made the difference. Fajar/Rian lost 19-21 in the first game.

The second game begins with both pairs taking turns gaining points. Fajar/Rian seemed to be trying to implement coach Aryono Miranat’s instructions not to just throw hard punches. The variation of the game proved to be able to make them lead.

Astrup/Rasmussen did not just lose. The attempt to revive the runners up for the 2023 World Championship again made it difficult for Fajar/Rian, who were trailing 10-11 in the interval in the second game.

Fajar/Rian followed Astrup/Rasmussen’s point and the score was tied at 13-13 to 15-15. Fajar/Rian took the lead, but Astrup/Rasmussen were able to catch up and forced Fajar/Rian to stop after losing 19-21.

Previously, Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin also lost to Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang in the first round of the 2023 China Open.

Jakarta –

Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto meet right away Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen Of China Open 2023. They were wary of the Danish pair’s tricks.

Fajar/Rian will start their fight on Tuesday (5/9/2023) in the China Open level 1000 badminton tournament. The event will be held at the Changzhou Olympic Sports Center Xincheng Gymnasium and lasts until September 10.

However, Fajar/Rian, who were the first seeds, did not necessarily find easy opponents in the first round. They immediately met the runner up of the BWF World Championship 2023, Kim/Anders, the next day.

Realizing that they are facing big challenges, Fajar/Rian is determined to be more vigilant. Moreover, Kim/Anders is famous for having tricks that can provoke their enemies on the field, one of which is delaying the match.

“Kim/Anders are in their best performance and we have to be more aware of them. Surely they are more confident. How can they not be provoked by their play and tricks on the field,” said Fajar in a written PBSI statement, Monday (4/9/2023).

Not only that, the field conditions were windy and different from the last match, forcing them to adapt quickly.

“The field was quite windy and the shuttlecock was also different from the last game, so we had to adapt quickly, especially since the first round was not easy for the opponent,” Rian explained.

At the last meeting, the world’s number one men’s doubles did win over Kim / Anders. However, from head to head Fajar/Rian lost 1-2 to Kim/Anders. They lost at Malaysia Open 2018 and Bitburger Badminton Open 2017.

“We have to focus from the start because every player is now equally strong, everyone’s level is the same, whoever is ready on the field will win,” said Rian.

Fajar/Rian lost two straight games in 36 minutes. The first seed in the 2023 Japan Open lost 19-21 and 10-21 to Lee/Wang.

Meanwhile Fajar Alfian said he and Rian had tried various ways to balance Lee/Wang’s game, but the doubles from Taiwan were in their best performance.

“The opponent kept pressing us and we couldn’t get out of that pressure. We’ve tried several ways from drive to defense but they can still anticipate. Very aggressive,” said Fajar.

“Lee/Wang are not new players. They are Olympic gold medalists. In terms of achievements and games, every player must have ups and downs, and now they are starting to rise again and that’s normal. Moreover, everyone wants to appear in the Olympics next year. This is what We have to be aware of and learn from all opponents,” said Fajar.

Until this news was published, Indonesia still had two representatives who would compete in the semifinals of the 2023 Japan Open, namely Jonatan Christie and Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.
