Milan-based technology company Bending โSpoons hasโข acquired โAOL, marking a meaningful step in itsโ strategyโ of acquiring and โgrowing consumer and enterprise digital products. As โof โlate October 2025, Bending Spoons is valued โคat over $10 billion, achieving “decacorn” status – a rare feat for European tech companies.โฃ The acquisition is funded, in part, by $2.8 billion in โdebt financing.
Founded and long โbootstrapped, Bending Spoons has recently turned to equity โfinancing, raising fundsโข in September 2022 and earlyโฃ 2024. Its most recent valuation came in at $2.8 billionโ in 2024. โThe company’s cap table includes prominent investors such asโฃ Andre Agassi, bradley Cooper, Eric Schmidt,โ Mike krieger, Xavier Niel, The Weeknd, The Chainsmokers, and Maluma.
Bending Spoons intends to use โฃnew fundingโข toโ support future acquisitions and invest in its proprietary technology and AIโ capabilities. AOL,whichโ remains one of the topโ 10 most-used email providers globally,boastsโค 8 million daily active users โand 30 million monthly active users,accordingโฃ to Bending โSpoons.
Prior toโ the AOL deal,Bending Spoons was reportedly โขconsidering acquisitions of app maker Elysium and Barcelona-based SaaS company Typeform.โ The company is actively hiring, with positions initially based in Milan, and options for remoteโค work or offices in London, Madrid, โขand โWarsaw. Despite describing its work surroundings as “demanding,” Bending Spoons has received over 600,000 โjob applications in 2025.
