LIVE Techno – Stars are astronomical objects that have light, this is because of the nuclear reactions that occur in their core. Stars are one of the basic components of the universe which are sources of light, heat and energy in the cosmos.

Reporting from BBC, Friday, November 10 2023, recently made observations show how stars are born and the process of their formation. All of this cannot be separated from the role of the James Webb space telescope, which was just launched by NASA and the European Space Agency.

NASA is excited to reveal the secret of star birth

Through his telescope, he showed the protostar HH 212 which is about 1,300 light years from Earth.

HH 212 was first discovered in 1993, located near Orion’s Belt and astronomers have spent the last three decades taking images to reveal how this budding star slowly formed.

However, according to Mark McCaughrean, a senior advisor at the European Space Agency, this is the first time scientists have seen “stunning color images” of protostars, which was previously impossible with telescopes on Earth.

The new image reveals intricate details of star formation, with symmetrical plumes of pink emission gas originating from both poles of the protostar.

McCaughrean explains that these neon bursts, known as jets or outflows, are a byproduct of star birth, and their bright colors indicate the presence of hydrogen molecules.

“When the lump of gas in the center solidifies, it starts to spin,” he explained in an interview with the BBC.

“But if it spins too fast, it gets thrown out, so something has to take away its angular momentum… We believe it’s the jet and the outflow.” he continued.

According to the BBC, the view captured by the telescope “will appear similar” to a past stage of our Sun’s development.

NASA is excited to reveal the secret of star birth

The James Webb Space Telescope, launched two years ago, is located more than a million miles away at a place called “Lagrange Point 2,” and has the ability to take images from space, providing clues about the formation of stars and planets.

“Webb has provided a more complex understanding of galaxies, stars and planetary atmospheres beyond our solar system than ever before, laying the foundation for NASA to lead the world in an era of scientific discovery and exploration of habitable planets,” said Nicola Fox, associate administrator of the Directorate NASA Science Mission.

He praised the telescope’s ability to revolutionize understanding of the cosmos by being able to see “light from distant corners of the universe for the first time.”

“Each new image is a new discovery, providing the impetus for scientists around the world to ask and answer questions that previously only existed in dreams,” he added.

Euclid Space Telescope’s First Images: Unveiling the Mysteries of the Universe

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com November 8, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

(AFP, Darmstadt, 7th) The first images captured by Europe’s Euclid space telescope were released today, including horse-head-shaped nebulae, never-before-seen galaxies, and elusive “Indirect evidence” of dark matter.

Agence France-Presse reported that the Euclid Space Telescope was launched in July this year, striving to uncover the mysteries of dark matter and dark energy, the biggest mysteries of the universe.

The Euclid Space Telescope will create what it calls the most accurate 3D map of the universe in history by mapping 1/3 of the sky, covering 2 billion galaxies.

After the Euclid Space Telescope arrived at a stable hovering point about 1.5 million kilometers away from the Earth and rendezvoused with the James Webb Space Telescope, it began to transmit its first observation results back to the Earth.

The European Space Agency (ESA) announced the first five images captured by the Euclid Space Telescope at a press conference held at the European Space Operations Center in Darmstadt, Germany.

European Space Agency Administrator Josef Aschbacher praised the more than 3,600 people who contributed to the project and praised it as “a milestone in European science and exploration.”

Carole Mundell, the European Space Agency’s science director, said that “rapidly capturing beautiful images of the vast sky with extremely precise speeds” demonstrates the capabilities of the Euclid Space Telescope.

The images include stunning views of the nearby Horsehead Nebula, as well as spiral and “irregular” galaxies.

But Euclid Space Telescope project scientist Rene Laureijs told AFP that for the research team, the most exciting thing is the image of the “Perseus Cluster” ; This is a distant galaxy cluster composed of more than 1,000 galaxies.

According to the European Space Agency, there are more than 100,000 galaxies lurking in the background of the Perseus galaxy cluster, some of which are 10 billion light-years away and have never been seen before.

The European Space Agency calls the Euclid Space Telescope the “dark universe detective” responsible for investigating why 95% of the universe seems to be composed of dark matter and dark energy, about which humans know very little.

By capturing light that takes 10 billion years to reach Earth’s vicinity, the Euclid Space Telescope also hopes to gain a deeper understanding of how dark energy has driven the expansion of the universe since the “Big Bang” 13.8 billion years ago.

NASA and SpaceX’s Crew-7 mission successfully took off this morning from Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA, towards the International Space Station (ISS), where the crew will perform various experiments and replace Crew-6.

The take-off of the Endurance spacecraft from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center took place, as scheduled, at 3:27 am today (8:27 am in Lisbon), and according to NASA specialists, docking to the ISS and the departure of the astronauts will only take place on Sunday .

The launch of the Crew-7 mission — the seventh manned mission of the US space administration to the ISS — was initially scheduled for 3:50 am (8:50 am in Lisbon) on Friday, but was postponed until dawn today, with NASA not advance the reasons for the postponement.

The Crew-7 mission is commanded by astronaut Jasmin Moghbeli, selected by NASA in 2017, and Andreas Mogensen, from the European Space Agency (ESA), while astronauts Satoshi Furukawa, from the Japanese agency JAXA, and Konstantin Borisov, from the Russian Roscosmos.

Euclid Space Telescope: Reaching Destination Orbit and Revealing First Test Images

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com August 2, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA—The Euclid Space Telescope has reached its destination orbit and on Monday (31/7/2023) the European Space Agency (ESA) revealed its first test images. Scientific operations telescope will start in October.

ESA says tests have shown it will be capable of fulfilling its mission. “After more than 11 years of designing and developing Euclid, it is very exciting and very emotional to see these first drawings,” said Euclid project manager Giuseppe Racca in a statement. Japan Today, Wednesday (2/8/2023).

After taking off from Florida, the satellite had traveled about 1.5 million kilometers from Earth to its observation orbit. From there, Euclid would chart the largest ever map of the universe, spanning up to two billion galaxies in more than a third of the sky.

By capturing the light that takes 10 billion years to reach around Earth, the map will also offer a new view of the universe’s 13.8 billion year history. Its visible-light camera will allow it to measure the shape of the galaxy, while its near-infrared spectrometer and photometer—developed with NASA’s assistance—will allow it to measure how far it is.

But when the instrument was turned on, the researchers were spooked by “unexpected light patterns contaminating the image,” said the ESA.

An investigation led researchers to believe that “some sunlight crept into the spacecraft, perhaps through a small crack,” but that was only detected when Euclid was oriented in a certain way.

“By avoiding certain angles,” says ESA, Euclid’s imaging device “will be able to fulfill its mission.”

Scientists hope to use the information gathered to overcome what Racca previously called a “cosmic embarrassment” in that 95 percent of the universe is still unknown to humans.

About 70 percent is thought to be made up of dark energy, the name given to an unknown force that is causing the universe to expand at an accelerated rate. Meanwhile, 25 percent is believed to be dark matter, which is thought to bind the universe together and compose about 80 percent of its mass.

Euclid earlier launched July 1 on a mission to shed more light on the elusive dark matter and dark energy.

Retirement of Ariane 5: European Space Agency’s Reliable Rocket

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com July 8, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Jakarta –

Either one rocket most reliable in the history of European space flight, that is Ariane 5, has entered retirement age. This Ariane 5 rocket once carried the Telkom 3S and BRIsat satellites into orbit.

Ariane 5 has just completed its final launch on Wednesday (5/7) at 19.00 local time. The rocket carried a pair of communications satellites for the German and Italian Governments from the French Guiana Space Center.

European Space Agency (ESA) revealed that the launch was the 117th for Ariane 5 since 1996, one of the two rockets carrying BRIsat on 18 June 2016 and the Telkom 3S satellite on 14 February 2017.

Ariane 5 also took part in other historic launches, the Rosetta launch to catch comet 67P Churyumov-Gerasimenko, the European navigation satellite Galileo, and the James Webb Space Telescope.

ESA mentions that Ariane 5 It has the power to carry double the payload capacity of its predecessor, the Ariane 4, which operated from 1988 to 2003.

In fact, the Ariane 5’s capacity allows it to orbit two large telecommunications satellites in one launch, or to propel a very large payload into space.

That power has made Ariane 5 a heavyweight rocket developed by Europe and operated by Arianespace compared to previous generations.

“Where the Ariane 1, 2 and 3 (1979-1989) and Ariane 4 (1988-2003) were closely related, the larger and more powerful Ariane 5 was developed in essence as an all-new launch system,” ESA said in a written statement, Friday (7/7/2023).

With the retirement of the Ariane 5, ESA will then deploy the Ariane 6. It is scheduled that the Ariane 6 will fly for the first time this year.
