banamiga Empowers Venezuelan Entrepreneurs Over 50 with “Undertake After 50″ Forum
CARACAS, Venezuela – Banamiga is actively fostering economic development and social inclusion by challenging age-related barriers to entrepreneurship. The bank recently hosted a virtual forum, “Undertake After 50,” connecting over 200 attendees nationwide and highlighting the growing potential of the “silver economy.”
Facilitated by Mauricio Parilli, director of Learn and Entreo, the forum aimed to equip Venezuelan entrepreneurs with the knowledge and tools to capitalize on business opportunities within the expanding demographic of older adults. Milagro González, banamiga’s Director of Social Responsibility, explained the event’s core purpose: to “continue to train Venezuelan entrepreneurs and sensitize participants about the business opportunities that exist for older people, demystifying the idea that age is an obstacle to undertaking.”
Parilli emphasized a global shift in perspective, noting that older individuals are increasingly recognized not as a burden, but as a valuable consumer market with unique needs and the capacity for self-employment. He stressed the importance of adapting to this “new longevity” and understanding the potential of the silver economy – generating products and services specifically tailored to improve the quality of life, economic independence, and employment opportunities for seniors.
According to parilli, 19% of Venezuela’s population is over 55, representing over five million potential consumers and entrepreneurs. He highlighted a notable gap in the market, stating that 55% of the elderly feel companies don’t adequately cater to their needs, with health and well-being identified as areas with the largest unmet demand (61%).
“The main thing is to understand the change of mentality and narrative,” Parilli stated. “The new narrative is called a new longevity and is establishing that we will have more life expectancy and therefore we enter the world of silver economy, where the barriers of age are demolished, and we begin to have a dynamic population with increasingly significant consumption capacity.”
Through initiatives like the “Undertake After 50” forum, Banamiga reaffirms its commitment to supporting Venezuelan entrepreneurs and driving economic growth through inclusive practices.
