Delaware Park adn the Delaware thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (DTHA) jointly announced a $20,000 donation to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF) on September 13, 2025. The contribution will directly support jockeys who have suffered catastrophic on-track injuries.
The partnership underscores a commitment to the health and welfare of riders, providing crucial financial assistance to those facing life-altering disabilities. The PDJF offers financial support to jockeys who have sustained injuries preventing them from continuing their careers, covering medical expenses and daily living costs. This donation arrives as Delaware Park concludes its 2025 meet, reinforcing the track and horsemen’s dedication to supporting the jockeys who contribute to the sport.
Kevin DeLucia, DTHA President, highlighted the importance of the PDJF’s mission. “Our jockeys risk their health every time they step onto the track,” DeLucia stated.”This donation is a small way for us to show our gratitude and provide support to those who have suffered devastating injuries.”
The PDJF, established in 2003, has provided millions of dollars in assistance to injured jockeys nationwide. Funds are distributed to eligible riders nonetheless of their racing jurisdiction. Delaware Park’s contribution will bolster the PDJF’s ability to continue offering this vital support.
